Saddest Songs

What are the saddest songs that you know of. The top 3 for me are:

The Blower's Daughter by Damien Rice

Black by Pearl Jam

He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones

All three of these songs make me cry uncontrollably. Sometimes for a couple of days after hearing one of them. 😢😢😢😢

"Worst That Could Happen" - Brooklyn Bridge --- "I'm never gettin' married, never gettin' married" He will not budge.

"Years" - Barbara Mandrell --- "Years of hangin' on to dreams already gone" Don't get sadder than that.

"Honey" - Bobby Goldsboro--- "One day while I was not at home & she was there & all alone, the angels came" OMG!

"Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down---"And it echoed thru the canyon like the disappearing dreams of yesterday" Kristofferson!

"16th Avenue" - Lacy J. Dalton---"And after years of being nothing" Ouch!

"Seasons in the Sun" - Terry Jacks---"But the hills that we climbed were just seasons out of time" Very deep.

"Johnny One Time" - Brenda Lee---"But did he tell you that he's known as Johnny One Time?" Obviously rhetorical query.

"One of the Few" by Pink Floyd.

Listen to that and try not to cry.

I Still Miss Someone, by Johnny Cash

Kenny Loggins's "Is This It"

To 'CS' :

That's "This Is It" and it's not a ballad or a sad song, it's actually upbeat musically
and it's about having reached one's goals in life and notdoubting one's abilities to have done so.

If you want sad by Kenny Loggins (despite the '80s sound) listen to either
"Forever" (#40 in 1985 or "Meet Me Half Way" (#11 in 1987 and from the film "Over The Top" with Stallone.
==============

As for other songs :
You needed Me by Anne Murray (1978)
If by the light rock group 'Bread' (1971)
One Sweet Day - Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men (1995/1996)
Someone Saved My Life Tonight - Elton John (1975)
Concerto In D Major For Lute, Rv.93: ll. Largo - Antonio Vivaldi (Composed 1730's)

The Last Song - Elton John (1992/1993 - A song about a young man who contracts
the AIDS virus and hopes his father will not turn him out and stand by him, when he needs him the most.)

I always felt the song "This Is It" had a sad vibe to it and it was about Kenny Loggins's father dying, I agree with you that "Forever" and "Meet Me Half Way" are also sad songs, I never liked the movie "Over The Top" though
