Top 250 Documentaries Idea

I was thinking it might make a lot of sense to have a special Top 250 for Documentaries.

I think we can all agree it's just a little bit awkward having a series like Planet Earth, Life, Cosmos, etc. amongst actual scripted television shows like Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad, etc. in the TV Top 250. I don't think documentaries are really rated in people's minds in the same way as they rate these television shows, in the same way that people don't seem to rate tv shows in the same way that they rate movies, hence a different top 250 for movies and for television.

I figured you could just combine documentary movies and documentary tv shows into one Top 250 Documentaries list, although I guess it could be easily argued that it would end up with mostly tv documentaries at the top of that list, since documentary tv seems to be rated with less scrutiny than documentary films in the same way that actual tv shows seem to be rated with less scrutiny than movies.

Therefore, it might actually make a lot more sense to just have something like a Top 100 Documentary Films and a Top 100 Documentary TV Series. We already have a Bottom 100 movies list, so for any purists of the number '250' lol, it's not like '100' hasn't already been used. And also we have a top 250 Indian movies now, so considering the "top rated imdb" section is growing, I think the top documentaries list would be a logical step.

If not only to get rid of the awkward clunkiness of skimming the TV top 250 and coming across unscripted documentary series that really shouldn't be compared to scripted tv shows in the first place. Plus, documentaries are great too and totally deserve their own list! :)

You do realize that even documentary series on television also have scripts right? The narrators aren't improvising most (if any) of their lines.

If they did make a list for documentaries, they would definitely need to separate feature length theatrically released documentaries from television series.
