ANSWERED: Keyword List Manager; Before this board disappears...

here are a couple of keywords that should be eliminated:

"rascal" - a subjective "call" most often apparently pertaining to boys (and some men) whose behavior may be cute to one, but obnoxious to another. (Should most Errol Flynn titles have this as a keyword?)

"scolding" - someone reprimanding someone else, but is it a rebuke, a reprimand, a condemnation, a what? Yet another subjective "call." (Does Rhett "scold" Scarlett in Gone With the Wind"?)

For some reason, these keywords are very common for the episodes of Australian TV series. This suggests that they have been submitted by the same contributor(s). Perhaps these two words mean something objective to Australians, but they are very subjective -- and confusing.

P.S. Even the Our Gang/Littke Rascals titles have neither of these subjective keywords -- thankfully.

Before the board disappears...You're aware that such discussions can continue on GS?

To be fair, some keywords simply need to be changed to other keywords.

reply

Yes, and some just need to disappear.

Hi bradleykent1,

These two keywords are fine. Although we have blocked certain keywords recently we don't want to get in the habit of continually removing valid data from the site that helps people discover and search titles. We see no issue with these two keywords.

Secondly LucusNon is correct, these discussions will continue on GetSatisfaction.

Well, these keywords are certainly NOT fine since they are so subjective. Their meanings are extremely unclear and confusing. They, therefore, do not aid people in discovering and searching titles. If anhyhing, they just confound the situation by being almost meaningless. They should be invalidated.

Could you define them, please?

And, how could you possibly know that the contributorrs of these keywords KNEW your definitions when they were submitted.

I hope you know that it is impossible to climb into someone's brain to know what they were thinking.

Keywords MUST be objective. They should be certain. And corroborative -- at least by a majority.

With such a dismissive response, you are entering a world of alternative facts.

If these keywords remain, they should literally and logically be added to many hundreds and thousands of titles where they might possibly apply.

Let us know. And encourage contributors to start adding them, perhaps beginning with Our Gang/Little Rascals titles -- and Gone With the Wind. (Rhett is a rascal in Scalett's eyes, and he scolds her!)
