REDIRECTED: Opening credits/closing credits

Please make a policy decision regarding the use of additional and/or explanatory information in the attribute field.

It is illogical to disallow cast and/or company credits submitted in the format (also as John Doe) while simultaneously allowing contributors to submit credits in the format (as John Doe also) or (as John Doe in the opening credits).

Some contributors may have misused the (also as) variation in the past, but the current approach to adding these credits with explanatory information is incorrect, given that it does not say "in the opening credits" or anything similar in the credits themselves.

For example:

http://www.imdb.com/find?ref_=nv_sr_fn&q=closing+credits&s=nm

Hi Indy, I've added this thread to the same ticket (0084459319) as the other thread (http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000042/flat/258386348) - again, we'll prioritize looking at this next week and get back to you ASAP.

Best,
Tom

There is no need to add explanatory data in an attribute. This type of information can easily be added as a trivia item, e.g. John Doe is credited as John Doe in the opening credits and as John R. Doe in the closing credits. By the way, why do you keep facilitating this wrong-headed approach to adding additional information?

A simple warning added when people submit the words "credits" and "also" in an attribute will explain to them that they need to add the information to the trivia section. Opening credits/closing credits is useless on a name page, however something like (also as John R. Doe) is useful in that it will obviously only display the name. If you're not willing or able to allow users to submit (also as) attributes directly, then the guides should state how the information should be added.

Bumping this up in the hopes of a response.

I normally would not bump posts this frequently, but I'm obviously running out of time with regard to this board. If you could make a decision regarding this problem, that would be greatly appreciated.
