Amelie musical at Berkeley Rep

I finally got to see it last week and loved it. What a beautiful and charming piece of theater! Here's the SF Chronicle review for those that are interested in reading more about it.

Thanks, Buzz. I would love to see it, also. Glad you enjoyed it. 

After reading the review: So is it presented without an intermission?

reply

Sorry it took me so long to get back with you! Yes, it ran about an hour and 45 mins and was done without an intermission.

Hah, had no idea they made a musical! I loved the movie, would be interested to see the musical. Is the music still based on Yann Tiersen? No, I don't want to read the SF review, will be like a spoiler to me :)

No, the musical is composed by Daniel Messé with lyrics by Nathan Tysen and Daniel Messé.

SoCal folks are lucky! LA's Center Theatre Group is producing it next before a tentative B'way transfer in the Spring of 2017. I really wish I could see it again.

I saw it last night and found it quirky as is the movie. During the show a lot of the songs continue into dialog and start into a new song without stopping for applause. The small cast was amazing and the sets and costumes were charming. The Ahmanson Theater is too big of a theater for this production and I hope it lands in an intimate house in New York. Phillipa Soo of Hamilton fame played the tile character.
