Looking for an old movie

Help! I seem to remember an earlier version of the new movie Midnight Special. It was about a father that either kidnapped, abducted , etc his child, but; I don't remember it having any science fiction to it.
It may have had Kevin Costner in it? maybe? Or Jon Voight and it may have been in the late 70's
