Is the quantum leap idea copyrighted or something

Leaping into people in the past, what a great idea. Having a hologram friend with u with his tablet is amazing. Some project in the future where a scientist gets lost. Not essential.

Can the just create a whole new show with these 2 concepts. They can change loads, but it could be very interesting to watch.

It's not a remake by the way. They seem to be making loads of shows the last few years but most are so crap it's unreal. All the complicated shows, quantum leap is a great idea, they can do so so many great episodes.

They need to get it right, but if they did it could easily have a season 3 cliffhanger were he leaps into alt universes, and mash in a sliders idea of dif universes and things to think about.

We have come along way way much since the 90's. we may have the guts to leap to universes where weed is legal, and universes where the banks didn't get a bail out and the economy crashed, or if al gore became president and some how 9/11didnt end up as a war in e Middle East.

Quantum Leap wasn't that big a hit that enough people are clamoring for a remake of the concept. And the show was Science Fiction out of necessity: Belasario wanted to do an anthology show, but knew he had to have recurring characters (anthology shows were dead and still are), so he came up with the concept to allow for multiple situations and settings.

The concept isn't copyrighted, but no one seems interested in using it.

You also mention Sliders. Did you know that Sliders got the greenlight only after a show named Doorways -- created by George R. R. Martin -- was turned down by ABC at the last minute; ABC greenlighted Lois and Clark and decided not to have another fantasy/SF show. There's some belief that Sliders took their concept from Doorways.

Irwin Allen's The Time Tunnel used the premise of going back in time years ago. In the present day the series Being Erica does something rather similar, only the title character gets to go back in time and fix mistakes within her own life.

The show's title, characters and scripts are obviously copyrighted, yes. But the concept certainly isn't.

The concept is good and has been used in other shows. Following the Quantum Leap rules is a standard, ie the audience sees the hero and the characters see someone else. Look at Stargate, Warehouse 13, and others. 😎
