WHat's the most popular IMDb board alternative?

Is it this, or something else? I wanna go where most people are.

reply

I'm over at imdb2.freeforums.net. It's more active than movie chat.org.

reply

The problem with that site is it doesn't have forums for all the films which was the main thing that took me to imdb.

reply

What good is it to have individual movie boards if their all dead? There's no active discussions here that I could find.

At least on imdb2 there's moderate user traffic. You can discuss individual movies on there in their Film General.

reply

movielover, it´s early to say the movie boards are dead.
IMDb deleted the boards only 2 days ago!
The last movie I watched before Doomsday was "The Lobster" and I saved some comments and I was posting here in The Lobster movie board, give it some time before people continue to post after watching a movie.

reply

@movielover

I mostly visited the boards to read (years old) discussions others were having. I only posted on a limited amount of boards myself and I hardly ever started a new discussion. I'm registered at IMDb2, but there aren't any discussions of interest to me. So that website is no alternative for me and many other folks.

reply

Stratego and movielover, same here. Somebody claimed that THIS website supposedly has kept all the message boards from the imdb, before they got deleted, but I cannot find them :(!
Is computer technology already that advanced that another movie website can just store all imdb message board discussions/threats?

Re << I wanna go where most people are. >>

Maybe the next few months -- as everything adjusts -- will lead to pondering the value of QUALITY vs. QUANTITY (?)

Basically, what use is a ginormous pile of sh!t...with 10 million flies on it?

This one, reddit for FG, and The Movie DV. IMDB2 is already falling apart

reply

Imdb2 is falling apart? I thought that's the one with most people and most activity.

reply

The one with the most troll activity, that's for sure

reply

Ah, that's a shame. Doesn't that site have moderators? Refugees from trolls of IMDb2 are welcomed here. I'm really starting to love this place.

reply

If that's the case, don't bring them over here because the trolls will come with them. I've only posted here 3 times and each time I've had an actual response from a REAL person and had a nice discussion about our opinions on said film. I havent had that in years. In the last few years of IMDb, it's been just some troll alt saying "lol you should kill yourself" or "wrong, idiot". I almost forgot what it was like to have a good discussion about a film on here, and now that I remember how nice it is, I want to keep it that way.

reply

I presumed that napsdufroid was such a refugee from IMDb2, so I welcomed him. It wasn't a general invitation, definitely not an invitation for trolls to come and join. lol

BTW, I like your nic.

reply

The trolls will find it anyway. The key is to ignore them, and hopefully, the admin will ban them.

reply

In the imdb message boards I always ignored such users or (in severe cases) told imdb admin to look into such troll posts to ban them from participation.

I have a question. Are there any film noir discussions in this new website? I cannot find any.

Cheers,

Chrissie aka waldenpond88

ok troll

reply

heeeyyy are you still over at imdb2?

reply

This one has the advantage of archived posts. Movie DB has every board and a professional layout and can replace IMDB for rating movies too. IMDB2 is unquestionably the most popular right now, though.

Has IMDB2 continued getting worse? Admittedly I was "part of the problem" but in the long run I'm hoping one of these other ones replaces IMDB.

reply

CountJohn, WHERE van I find these archived posts?
For instance archived posts of "Plein soleil" aka "Purple Noon"? I found out around 2/8/17 that imdb would eliminate their message boards. Since then I spent every free minute checking film noir message boards, before all that precious movie knowledge would be gone forever.
It would be wonderful, if all "Plein soleil" treats, "Dark Passage" (Humphrey Bogart), "The Reckless Moment" (James Mason) and many others would be saved.

reply

I just randomly checked Dark Passage; it's all there!

You just search for the movie in the search box above.

Porno.

Before anyone becomes faux OUTRAGED, I'm just tossing out some levity. There's humor in the world after all.
