Only scene I remember: A father walks into a school or Boy Scout meeting drunk...

The dad brings ice cream to the meeting, but by the time he arrives, it's all melting. His son is mortally embarrassed. I remember being heart broken for the boy and miserable for the dad for behaving so foolishly.

I feel like the dad finally turns his life around, and everything turns out ok. However, I can't recall the movie. Probably saw it 30 years ago...Feel like it was made in the 60s.
