Movies where the CIA are portrayed as evil

Not people who work/worked there. But the actual organisation, and it's deeds exposed.

Thanks people for any suggestions.

JFK (1991)

I saw it. Thanks for the suggestion.

There is another Oliver Stone--but I haven't seen it--Snowden (2016). He was an NSA employee not CIA so I don't know how much the CIA is mentioned.

reply

I will have a look.

reply

Actually he did work for the CIA as well. I just looked at his Wikipedia page.

A good movie on Operation Ajax, the organizations most successful and controversial operation, has yet be made.

Charlie Wilson's War (07) is in my mind, the best movie showing the nexus between C.I.A., Politics, Big money and foreign policy. I am sure if 9/11 had not occurred, this film would not have been made, so it is a gift...

The Falcon and the Snowman (85), the protagonist has a dim view of the C.I.A. interference with a friendly countries democracy (Australia) and takes action.

The Spook who Sat by the Door (73) is a film I've never seen, but probably best fits what you are looking for. One of the few (only?) film that was completed and wasn't released in theaters due to the U.S. government.
(the F.B.I was afraid of a race war and "convinced" the studio owner not to release it). A note that this movie is fiction, and has been included in the Library of Congress to atone for government interference in it's release.

Three Days of the Condor. I think it's the CIA trying to kill him in that one. Robert Redford is a CIA analyst who stumbles on a black op that the CIA really wants to keep secret from everyone, so they want to kill him.

Capricorn One (1978)

the long kiss goodnight (1996) - mixes some truth with fiction for its surprise plot
the truth - it was the fbi that had an informant "Emad A. Salem" who was part of the WTC 1993 bombing attack. in the movie its the CIA and the fictitious plot gets a little disturbing from there.

iran/contra movies:
Kill the Messenger (2014)
American Made (2017)
Doublecrossed (1991)

Not a movie, but in Season 4 of Sons of Anachy, the CIA is backing a Mexican drug cartel, which has some basis in real life events allegedly done by the CIA.

Here are a couple:
Three Days of the Condor (1975)
The Bourne Trilogy (2002-2007)
Syriana (2005)
The Parallax View (1974)
The Manchurian Candidate both (2004)

You might also be interested in this one. It's not the CIA but the NSA, but pretty much the same idea:
Enemy of the State (1998)
