Has anyone been on rival "movie" forum Film Boards?
Seems like a cluttered mess to me and full of trolls

I lurk there from time to time, but you're right: it's chockful of trolls. No real thoughtful on-topic discussion anywhere, just shit posting & flame wars. It's populated by all the old IMDb trolls.
shareI've been there a few times. If people complain about moviechat trolls, they should head over there to see how much worse it can get. I know they check this place too. The one positive of Film Boards is that they don't have Kowalski.
shareYes. Nice skin. No moderation. Many goof-balls.
sharesome of the features would be nice to have here.
shareOh yea. The owners could actually, if they had the will, migrate to that bbs platform and ship the content here in. It would take some work, of course. Probably no drive to do so from the owners, however. I'm not seriously complaining, just mentioning the possibility.
Filmboards is a much nicer platform.
Nicer platform in as far as site architecture & layout goes yes. But as far as users & intellectual quality of the majority of it's posters? Epic levels of off-topic troll-ness.
I think the more bare bones structure of MC keeps those kind of posters away. At the beginning, they had tried to flood this site, but eventually fell by the wayside, &/or got booted by the Mods.π

I was Admin there. It was a losing battle. No email registration and easy sock creation makes it impossible to have a serious discussion. It's dominated by a small troll clique, 30 original posters with thousands of disposable socks.
Compare any movie board on MovieChat with its counterpart on filmboards. filmboards is dead.
Yes, I am a member there and I agree.
Posters here are actually more interested in discussing/debating things without giving too much crap while on fb, pretty much the majority compared to MC, just want to give crap.
There are a few posters I get along with on fb where I add to my block list at times while here I have yet to put anyone on ignore.
Poppycock and balderdashery!
shareI think 75-80% of MovieChat members post in good faith which is what keeps this site hanging in there. Even when people disagree on political or cultural issues, they mostly don't hold grudges and can come around and talk agreeably on some movie or TV show.
