They could never make "Married... With Children" today.

One day is clearly not enough time to make an entire TV show.

Fun Fact: "Married... With Children" was originally going to be a black family. But it was decided that it would be accused of being racist, to portray black people like that. One of the co-creators of the show, Michael G. Moye, was a black guy and that's what he originally envisioned.

This type of humour wouldn't have worked with a black family.

reply

EXPLAIN WHY...IN DETAIL.🙂

reply

Name me one black family you've seen like the Bundys.

reply

I feel like the actor who played Mr. Jones in Friday would've made a good black Al Bundy.

reply

You gon' eat up all my grapes.

reply

Heterosexual couple - Oh my!
Married - Good grief!
Kids in wedlock - No!
White, non racially diverse cast - Hell no!
Poking fun at women and feminism - Keep going buddy, the Woke Stormtroopers are on the way!

reply

The overwhelming majority of shows still have heterosexual couples.

I was being satirical but also pointing out factors that would cause controversy today. You could also add good looking women being ogled and enjoying the attention.

reply

Then again, it is true that the show was controversial back in its day as it was.

reply

It was one of the shows that was campaigned against. There was a woman back then called Terry Rakolta who campaigned against the show and other things and wrote to advertisers saying her group would boycott their products. This made many of the advertisers withdraw but of course all the controversy just made people more aware of the show! She also considered the Phil Donohue show offensive.

They reference this in a Season 9 ep where a sitcom that is based on the Bundy's lives (within the show) is cancelled and they make the comment "Because some woman from Michigan didn't like it!"

reply

the 1980s and 90s may as well have been 100 year ago with how much thing change.

it is reason why 99% of thing i watch are from this time because when they make tv/film back then all they care about is making good film and tv show, they dont care about woketard. no woketard in sight mean good thing to watch.

reply

Yep, the preaching got old a long time ago. I also miss good looking women in TV shows.
