k, I'll kick this one off.... with a generically MOR perspective...

I feel it is completely subjective, based on one's own position, perspective, and perception.

1. There is no way to PROVE someone is "greedy" even if they say they are, that perspective can change depending on who is perceiving it. I could SAY I am greedy because I make money for toys, but really, my actions would maybe prove my perspective was wrong. Or to some, they might think I AM greedy, comparing to THIER position. Or maybe I make a lot of money because I love what I do, am great at it, and money comes as a matter of that fact, but I am NOT greedy.

2. Men are more greedy - they all compete to get the most money, lying, cheating stealing, building industry for more and more money and things..... maybe.... or maybe they are simply successful.

3. Women are more greedy - divorcing more and nearly always to "trade up" to a more financially well endowed man. OR chasing a guy with the nicest car or house or suits. Gold digging? ...which, I don't feel is inherently wrong, since they are merely seeking prosperity for protection and comfort.

YES, women can build industry, men can gold dig... that's far far far from the general norm we should be discussing for a topic like this.

So, final answer, it depends on perspective.

No surprise that YOU were on this topic like Armie Hammer on a plate of ribs, and your generalisation that men are “successful” and women are “gold diggers” was entirely on brand for you.

Would you like to tell us where the bad lady hurt you, or are you just looking for some extra salt for that colossal chip on your shoulder?

reply

He couldn't help it.

Property values and rent historically move together.

reply

definition incase it needs to be understood on a level playing field:

greed·y

having or showing an intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth or power.

reply

All humans are greedy. Some people reach the next level and they become obsessed. So obsessed that they desire money and power simply to have more of it. I can't be rich because I can't fake the friendly attitude and rock a fake smile all day long.

reply

The variance within the two populations greatly exceeds the variance between them.

reply

Very well stated, I agree with you.

reply

Off the top of my head without diving too deeply into it, I'd say in general men are more greedy when it comes to money. And in general, women are more obsessed with it. Particularly gold diggers.

reply

Honey, the only people who aren't greedy and obsessed with money are the rich!

They're able to take it for granted, and waste people's time by lecturing about how money doesn't buy happiness. We know that, we want more money anyway.

reply

But lack of money can “buy” misery.

This topic is fundamentally immature and stupid. I suspect the OP thinks s/he can use the replies for a school paper; but, given that it is entirely based on unsubstantiated anecdotal replies, the paper would be worthless, so this whole topic is worthless, so it is no wonder that 123Guy was the first gadfly to rush to reply.

reply

Money removes sources of unhappiness, that's why we want it! Money doesn't make us happy, but it sure as hell makes us less unhappy.

Stupid topic for sure. Everyone except monks who spend their lives in prayer or meditation wants more money, there's no division by sex.

reply

Thank you, Otter, as ever.

reply

One is generally more obsessed with making it, the other is genreally more obsessed with spending it.

"Money is frozen energy"~ Mary Lasker

Thats very profound.
Although I would argue:
"Until the real energy runs out , then see how far burning your dollar bills gets you."

reply

The horror of the electronic band KLF burning $1 million quid ($1.2m US) on film just flashed in my mind.

reply

That was very "profound" stunt too "

People were all up in arms
"I could've had that "
"They could've given it to charity"
"what a senseless waste"
etc etc

And yet when some billionaire whose wealth come from exploiting the work of his employees spends a million quid having his Lamborghini gold plated people be like :
"wow , we're really impressed "
"i wish i had that much money "
"well done you "
and to the naysayers "Its His Money He Can Do What He Likes !! grr! "

And so to me KLF burning a million quid giving people a valuable lesson making people think about the value of money , is money well spent.
