I generally didn't have any problems on the Soapbox, because it was designated as a forum for "heated discussion." For that matter, I generally didn't have any problems on any of the forums (such as the forums for specific movies and TV shows). Sometimes I'd stumble across a laughable little clique on a movie or TV show board; people who had hung out together on the same board for years and thought they owned it, and they'd start mass reporting, which would trigger this message:
Please remember to ensure all your postings are made in compliance with our terms and conditions. Please pay particular attention to the rules in section #2 and the punishments in section #3. In the event of a violation, IMDb may remove your entire posting history, not only the messages which are specifically in violation and your account may be permanently blocked from posting.
When I got that message I'd usually tell the clique that I'd been posting on the IMDb forums for many years; my posting style had never changed; that they were far from the first people to come up with the "brilliant" reporting idea, and that it wouldn't accomplish anything of any consequence (and indeed, it never did). share
