a gofundme campaign has raised over $200,000 for the guy

jeeez, for having a job, GOFUNDME morons just throw money at him?? WTF is wrong with this world?

This was probably a case of a local manager simply doing something... ANYTHING nice on some one's anniversary.
What did he get for 25 years? What about 26 years? Is he getting something every year???
Maybe there is ZERO gifts given at anniversary - regardless of attendance.

These are the days when you simply have to do NOTHING to get free stuff. what a fucked up world.
Is he a manager level after 27 years in fast food? I sure hope so. And not just whining "I deserve $15 an hour for doing an entry level job that everyone is supposed to leave after getting workforce experience."

How can I do nothing amazing, go viral, and get $200,000? apparently there is a lot of disposable income out there. and people are whining about gas and food prices?????????? wtf

Excellent post and I agree 100%. Since when do we deserve a special award for doing what every responsible adult should do just as a matter of propriety? You work and you do a good job for your employer. That's what we do.

But I wouldn't attack the man for staying at a fast food joint for 25 years. I know a guy who is making a career out of it. He enjoys it. And he has his sights on management. So it's not a dead end job for everybody. It's legitimate work for working class people without a college education perhaps.

reply

Agreed, everyone do whatever they enjoy. My point is we don't have the info of his employment, or I didn't find it.

So they headline is like, "life long fry cook gets 200000 for nothing"

reply

I'm not giving him money, especially now that he's already got 200k, but lifesavers and ONE movie ticket? They could of at least given him two so he could take a friend. LOL. A lot of the things they gave him are things they might give away for a promotion. Keychains and a pen. I can understand him feeling a little insulted.

reply

The old cliche is that a man works all his life doing white collar work for a corporation, and when he retires he gets a gold watch. They ain't gonna buy you like on some game show - A BRAND NEW CAR!!! That seems like Burger King's version of a gold watch.

reply

A lot of companies only make a big deal every 5 years. I wonder if he got anything on his 25th anniversary.

reply

Even worse, I bet the movie ticket was to Titanic!

reply

probably expired.

reply

Look, I like you, mojo. I respect you. But I will not stand for that blatant disrespect!

reply

How dare you! 😀

reply

So why did he (or whoever) make a video and post it? To show his gratitude or to covertly complain about it?

reply

I doubt he was showing gratitude.

reply

Right, so he went online to cry about a gift he received (which they didn't even have to do) and now he's being rewarded for it. Ridiculous.

reply

The "goody bag" may have been appropriate for a part time 19 year old. Not a 54 year old man with 27 years service. It's tone deaf.

reply

They didn't have to give him ANYTHING, you know. 27 years isn't even an anniversary. It's probably the manager wanting to show some appreciation and giving him a standard goodie bag because that might be all they have to give to him on behalf of the company. If it isn't staged in some way...

reply

it would have been better to have given him nothing.

reply

Free stuff is always good.

reply

lifesavers are not that expensive.

reply

No, but they can save lives!

Exactly why I am asking wtf is wrong with this planet

reply

Sounds like whoever owns that franchise is a shitty boss. Hell, that little gift bag is more insulting than no gift at all.

"Hey buddy, thanks for the almost 3 decades of being a great employee, here's some candy!"

I mean, I think a bonus would have been appropriate here.

THE ACTUAL THREE DECADE MARK SEEMS THE APPROPRIATE TIME FOR A BONUS.

reply

At the 3 decade mark, maybe the owner will splurge and gift him an entire candy bar!

reply

At 27 years. Why 27? Why not 25? Or 30.

Things aren't what they seem here

Reportedly, David Spade has pledged to give the guy several thousand dollars.

😎

reply

$5000.00, apparently.

reply

Excellent!

😎

reply

Yes. Nice people doing nice things for each other. What a nice world. Group back patting.

A gainfully employed man gets a huge bonus....

Meanwhile, broke homeless people on the streets.....

reply

Did they at least throw in one of those cardboard Burger King crowns?

reply

Hey man, simmer down. Some men work their whole lives away and never get the Burger King Crown. Once you wear that cardboard Burger King crown you know you are the chosen one, special even. Few men can fill the Burger King crown.

Please refrain from making fun of cardboard royalty!

How dare you?

reply

I wonder if he went to work one day dressed as Ronald McDonald if they would take back the bag of Reese’s pieces from him.

reply

I always wondered what would happen to a guy that drove a Ford but worked at a Chevy Auto plant lol😃

There’s gotta be some serious shit talk going on right there!
