shareMy theory is that they are popular due to their resemblance to pit bulls and their friendly nature. A pit bull will bite your nuts off but these dogs don't attack as much. Rottweilers and German Shepherds are other dogs that will attack so I was surprised to see Biden having German Shepherds in the White House.
sharePit bulls are very friendly, only by excessively abusing the dog does the owner manage to turn it into an attack dog.
shareNo. They are nasty and dangerous dogs. The owner in the video owned her pit bull for seven years before it snapped and attacked a mailman in Chicago.

An analysis by dogsbite.org shows that pit bulls were responsible for 66% of the fatal dog attacks over a thirteen year period.

There have been plenty of other attacks that are documented.

So by this logic, I can claim all humans are psychotic killers by pointing out a small sample of humans that happen to be psychotic killers.

Pit bulls are extremely friendly, it is only through abuse that you turn them into attack dogs.
I don't think this is necessarily true. From what little I know, dogs that have certain traits have been bred over decades, if not centuries, to exploit these traits. A domestic pit bull might see a child riding a bike and chase it in order to subdue it, without ever having been taught or abused by the owner. That's my understanding, not that it happens habitually, but it's not entirely unlikely.
shareOnly if the pitbull sees the child as a threat to his owner...
shareAgain, I'm not going to assume you are correct in this. I do believe some dogs have natural instincts that might have them attack a person without provocation.
People don't teach their dogs to bark at anything in eyesight, but they do it and it's very hard to get them to stop.
Pit bulls were originally bred for dog-fighting and bull baiting (where a dog was forced to immobilize or kill a bull). Breeders would take the most aggressive dogs from the litter and mate them with others of the same temperament.
share"Pit bulls are extremely friendly, it is only through abuse that you turn them into attack dogs."
This is such a myth. Pit bulls are aggressive by nature. I know for a fact because I had a neighbour with a pit and he had to put it down because it was attacking young family members (and no my neighbour who is a nice guy wasn´t abusing his dog). I have seen pits attack smaller and younger dogs in the street while being leashed. The people that think pits are harmless, are usually biased pit owners.
Yeah, this happened just yesterday

Pitbulls have killer instincts that have been purposefully selected for, and bred into them for centuries. You can own a Pitbull for years and years and never abuse them or teach them to fight, but their temperament is still extremely unpredictable. They may be the sweetest dog in the world, and may have never shown any previous signs of aggression, but you literally never know when a noise or a sight or a movement will flip that instinctive switch in their head, and send them into attack-mode.
This happens with other breeds too, (Shepherds, Rottweilers, Dobermans, etc), but to nowhere near the extent that it happens with Pits.
1200 - 1400 each
