When someone cuts a friendship off, advice?

I met a friend at work and we have got to know each other the past two years. Anyhow, there's some other work colleague who for whatever reason got jealous of our friendship so started spreading rumors to my so called friend. My friend stopped talking to me for a week but eventually came and explained why because of this so called rumor that I date guys and drop them,I asked him why he stopped talking to me because of this and why is he bothered anyway because we're only friends. Eventually I forgave him, then today out the blue he said he wants to cut our friendship off and he mentioned the rumor again,I'm angry that I gave him a second chance just to cut me off again. Should I confront the woman who spreading lies about me or just let it go so I don't cause drama at work?

reply

wow what a tangled web of gossipy bitchiness

I suggest you embark on a secret revenge campaign that will result in "woman who spreading lies about me" getting sacked, ideally with criminal charges for embezzlement .
That'll show the bitch!

^jk btw

lol

reply

Honestly, the woman sounds like a bitch and the guy sounds like a flake. Forget them both.

reply

Have him killed and get 'rumour girl' framed for his murder.

reply

lol! That'll teach em!

reply

Can't teach dead people.

I just read it😳
And now I’m very glad we’ve always gotten along!

reply

I’m nice 99.9% of the time, however…..

reply

Clearly his real issue is that you ain't hooking up with him. Otherwise like you said, why would those type of rumors matter to him.

reply

100% this.

reply

Friendzoned

reply

I find that the less one interacts personally at work, the better.

reply

Agreed

reply

I would just let it go, unless you have feelings for the guy, although tbh he sounds immature and incapable of effective communication

Starting feuds at work is pointless. It might feel good to defend yourself, but these people both sound toxic and I think you will be better off in the long run if you have as little contact with them as possible

reply

Agreed 100% on all points, it’s nothing to wind up jobless over

If no one knows your business, it makes it hard to start rumors about you. Maybe get a new job, and a new start. Keep your personal stuff out of the workplace. Are you extremely hot ? If so, you're going to have guys sniffing on you, and girls hating on you. That's life.

reply

The guy probably wanted more than friendship.
The rumor starter probably likes that guy.
Or maybe you knew that already, and you actually do like to play with guys.
Either way, move on.
