I finished an important lecture at my doctoral workshop I was attending in my country, and came out a little disappointed at myself, I made some not inevitable mistakes.
I'm the kind of person that something small things can ruin my whole day (and sometimes more).
In light of this,
I need the Wisdom of the crowd.
My only condition: not comedy movies. Or at least not a comedy as the main component in the movie.
It's little unusual that two of you pick war movies. I watched the Hacksaw Ridge before and agree with ShogunofYonkers that's a good feel movie. I never heard about The Siege of Jadotville but I trust you, it's sound very Intriguing.
I am not fan of TV series from the last 20 years, but Psych have a potential to cheer me up.
Thanks.
Psych is the bees knees. Ive watched it countless times through. I love burn notice too but Ive never been able to finish it through. I came so close a couple months back, I only had half a season left.
I started watching Burn Notice a few months back and I was flying through it, really enjoying it but when they introduced the Jesse character and it seemed to change the dynamic of the show. It took a few episodes to readjust but I still like to watch from time to time. Psych on the other hand, I could watch all day every day until the end of time.
Not fan of Star Trek but I know friends that every things with connect to Star Trek will made their day brighter.
I wonder If I will love Dirty Dancing or not. But it's definitely feel good movie.
I loved the storyline in What's So Bad About Feeling Good maybe I will give it a chance.
Watched A Knight's Tale long time ago and didn't remembered if I love it or not.
Wilderness Family sound really fun.
They produced a number of sequels for this one.
I tend to choose movie from the 60s and 80s for my feel good movie.
I have no idea how I missed the sequels at the time. I'll have to put them on my watch list.
My favorite feel good movies from the 60s are the Beach Blanket Bingo and Gidget movies. Beach, surfing and hanging out with friends during the summer. The more recent Teen Beach movie was a fun feel good movie, too.
Double Indemnity (1944) -- Not really a feel good movie, but Fred MacMurray, Barbara Stanwyck, and Edward G. Robinson give excellent performances. Also, the film noir dialogue and such is over the top, not enough to ruin or even damage it but only slightly so, giving it a little comedic edge. And I suppose the "crime doesn't pay" moral is uplifting if one is in the mood for such things. Anyway, I always enjoy watching it.
The Sting (1973) -- The "crime does pay" moral is uplifting if one is in the mood for such things. And outstanding performances from everyone in the film.
Boogie Nights (1997) -- The recording studio scene alone makes it worthwhile. And the main character, Dirk Diggler, is such a dumbass that you can't help feeling good, knowing you're immensely superior to him in every way except for one physical attribute.
Auto Focus (2002) -- Bob Crane's life was good, then it got better, then it got worse. Just watch it up until, I dunno, the point where Hogan's Heroes was cancelled.
Family Business (1989) -- Another one that starts off happy then turns dark. Just watch it up to the point where Matthew Broderick gets arrested.
The Gods Must Be Crazy from the poster and plot It's sound very crazy movie.
Double Indemnity - Wonderful movie. Classic. I love film noir. I am looking for movies I didn't seen. The same thing I can said about The Sting.
I watched Boogie Nights in young age (Elementary School) by mistake and stoped in the middle. I didn't understand what I see LOL. Contrary to popular belief, nude films are far more harmful to young children than violent films. Because movies about sex do not fit into any familiar scheme for him or her.
Auto Focus - I love the title. Don't know what to think about this one. My gut tell me it's not the movie for me.

It's a dubious choice for any "feel good" list. And don't watch it unless you're comfortably seeing naked women. Lots of naked women. It's about Bob Crane's photography hobby and sex addiction, both of which get progressively worse over the course of the movie. For example, he'd videotape himself in bed with his dates without their knowledge. It ends with his murder. A good movie, but definitely not one for the kiddies.

Here's one you might not have seen -- Harry In Your Pocket (1973). It's not primarily a comedy, but rather a crime drama with some comedy in it. "Harry" (James Coburn) is a master pickpocket who takes on two young people (Michael Sarrazin, Trish Van Devere) as apprentices and students. In addition to the plot and acting, it's enjoyable for another reason -- Van Devere was in her early thirties when she filmed this, she had great legs, and miniskirts were very much in fashion at that time. It might be difficult to find, though. DirecTV shows it as being available on demand from the EPIX channel, but I can't seem to find it anywhere else. It might be available at a video rental store.
