Most shocking celebrity deaths?

I would say Michael Jackson. It came out of nowhere especially with his sold-out tour. Oh, and Aaliyah with the plane crash back in 2001 (a mere few weeks before 9/11). Also, John Ritter back in 2003.

reply

Robin Williams

reply

Williams' exit was pretty awful...who didn't love that guy?
How did he not know the whole world loved him..?

Damn shame that one

reply

I really miss him. He was one of my favorite people.

reply

Same here

He was hilariously funny in everything and his performance in Good Morning Vietnam was perfection...He was tops, no lie

reply

That illness he had, Lewy body dementia, is gruesome.

reply

I had to look that up, I was unaware of that

Apparently it might have increased his depressive state leading up to his suicide

Nature is a heartless bitch

reply

I cried when I heard he died. Him and David Bowie.

reply

You and Intothenight all the time with Michael Jackson. Go ahead and drop another clanger, then.

reply

You missed the 9/11 reference.

reply

River Phoenix was a one that really caught me off guard. It was the pre-Internet days so news travelled more slowly - I learnt about it from my friend who arrived late to our university lecture. I was quite a fan so it hit hard.

reply

River was a bad loss for sure

That guy could have been in dozens more roles easily, he was an excellent actor

Really lousy what became of River

reply

Yes, much like his brother he was a tremendous talent, taken suddenly, brutally and tragically young. It had seemed that his career was just warming up, but in the last year or two of his life came his extraordinary performance in My Own Private Idaho, a suggestion that much great work was to come.

But of course, history had other plans for him.

reply

Rudeboy, he wasn't "taken". He went. That's part of the deal with drugs.

reply

A LOT COME TO MIND...BUT KOBE BRYANT WAS THE MOST UNEXPECTED AND HARDEST FELT FOR ME AND MY FAMILY.

reply

Joe Spinell died 32 years ago, that was a big loss, he played great gangster and slasher roles

He was also known as a very shy 'Mama's Boy' type and a good guy and he was highly regarded in his neighborhood in Queens

Joe was a star, we will never see another gent like him

reply

elvis
prince
natalie wood

reply

prince was maybe the only celebrity death that really hit me, cuz i truly grew up with him, & it seemed so unexpected, at least to me.

reply

Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P, Richardson (The Big Bopper) in that plane crash on February 3, 1959.
"The Day the Music Died" indeed.

reply

They passed away before I was born so my connection is mainly through Don McLean’s American Pie.

reply

Charles Bronson. He was 81, but I thought he'd make it to 100+.
