What are some of your favorite movie endings of all time

I LOVE dark endings. Not trying to be edgy or anything. I love Happy endings as much as the next guy, Wink wink, from Shawshank Redemption to The Truman Show & Terminator Judgement Day

But its just that the bleak ones stay with me forever. They have the kinda impact on me that the happy ones don't. So without further ado, here are just some of my absolute favorites

1. Seven
2. The Usual Suspects
3. The Godfather part 1 & 2
4. Planet of the Apes 1968
5. The Dark Knight
6. Chinatown
7. The Mist
8. Infinity War
9. Memento
10. Primal Fear

Good call, great ending

That film genuinely gave me nightmares as a kid. Even as adult, it still gives me the creeps. My favorite Horror film of all time.

reply

It usually ranks as the most scariest scene in a movie (you know which part).

Is one of my favourites of all time too. They really don't make them like that anymore.

Paddington 1 & 2 are some of the best & most wholesome family films I've seen in my lifetime.

Just absolutely amazing.

both of those movies are magical to me. perfect.

reply

Same. A huge hit with my little siblings as well. ๐Ÿ˜Š

That's a totally solid list

I really liked the ending of The Long Good Friday (80)

Hoskins is perfect in the whole movie but in those final minutes he achieved acting greatness

reply

O hell yeah! So much expression and feeling in his looks! Thank you for recommending this film to me. ๐Ÿ‘

You're welcome Amigo
I'm going to try to find it streaming this weekend for a rewatch๐Ÿ‘

* it was also Pierce Brosnan's first movie playing as '1st Irishman' lol

The end of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly with Blondie severing Tucoโ€™s noose and riding off while Tuco screams at the top of his lungs. Top it off with Morriconeโ€™s score and great camera work, this and the earlier gunfight in the graveyard is the best ending I can think of.

I just rewatched it about a month or 2 ago. What an incredible film. My favorite western of all time. That score is just phenomenal.

Iconic ending

I canโ€™t take it anymore. Iโ€™m watching it tonight. ๐Ÿ˜†

Good list

Bonnie and Clyde was very accurate in terms of the final law enforcement confrontation...period photos are available of the kill site, it was what they had coming after a dozen murders

The climactic scene of Thelma And Louise always pissed me off a bit, those Gals should have gone to town with shotguns in the script, it would have been way cooler

"I do wish we could chat longer but I'm having an old friend for dinner''

What an absolutely brilliant performance by the amazing Sir Anthony Hopkins.
