MovieChat’s youngest honorary member turns 7 🎈

I’d like to thank all the MovieChatters for the hundreds of movies that you've recommended for my daughter to watch over the last few years.

Happy birthday to her, but what is this "honourary" business? Get her an account ASAP, we'll ignore the bad spelling.

reply

She'd fit right in.

reply

Her spelling is probably better than mine, lol.

reply

Happy birthday to her!🥳

reply

She says thank you ☺️

With all of those movie marathons, she's on her way to Allaby-level movie knowledge.

Happy Birthday to her! And seven virtual birthday balloons 🎈 🎈 🎈 🎈 🎈 🎈 🎈

reply

Excellent! Unfortunately, I’ve had at least 2 posters threatening to report me to social services for my Daddy / daughter movie marathons *smh*

reply

What...??? What's wrong with a parent and child bonding over movie night? Was it the choice of films? PG-13 stuff?

Some people need to get a life.

reply

I did a Star Wars movie marathon, which apparently isn't age appropriate. I very recently did an Indiana Jones movie marathon, which I was criticised for. The thing is, I give the films that I view with my daughter a great deal of thought and if I ever felt that she was being distressed I would immediately stop the film.

Plus, I make sure that I regularly pause the films to ensure that she understands certain plot points or situations and to answer any questions that she might have. She clearly has an understanding of what is real and what is fantasy.

I've fully explained to her how special effects and CGI works, but most of all she's absolutely amazed at the job that the stuntmen do.

I remember you talking about the Indiana Jones marathon and saying how your daughter loved it. Who knows...? Maybe someday she will get into the industry and become a renowned director or scriptwriter. She will have you to thank for the encouragement.

People who get worked up over Star Wars have too much time on their hands.

reply

She really looks forward to it every night and is genuinely disappointed when occasionally we can’t watch a film; this doesn’t strike me as the behaviour of a traumatised child.

A very happy birthday to the young lady. :)

Don't know if your family has ever seen Wonder (2017), but it has a great message for kids and grown-ups.
