Just finished a 4 Indiana Jones Movie Marathon with my 6 year old daughter.
Next up……..Jurassic Park.
shareNext up……..Jurassic Park.
shareAt 6 years old, my children would not have been ready for Indiana Jones.
shareMY DAUGHTER USED TO WATCH ZOMBIE MOVIES WITH ME AT THAT AGE AND GIGGLE HER LITTLE HEAD OFF...BUT THEN I AM NOT ENTIRELY NORMAL...NOR IS MY DAUGHTER.🙂
shareShe’s quite fearless and I’m right there with her to explain plot points, answer any questions and generally make sure that she’s ok.
shareI wish I could get my 6 year old grandson to watch some of those movies with me, but he apparently isn't ready. He's very smart, but hasn't progressed past Sponge Bob - his attention span isn't great.
Andy - can your daughter tell time? I just bought my grandson a digital watch and plan to teach him the concept of an analog clock.
I enrolled him in swimming lessons and he spends Monday and sometimes Tuesday nights with me, so I have all kinds of plans for him over the summer.
My daughter is light years ahead of where I was at her age. We encourage her to try everything and if she doesn’t like something, no problem, there’s plenty of other things for her to try.
She can tell the time and the school she goes to really encourages the girls to stretch themselves. She already speaks a little French and Spanish (and Indonesian because of Mrs K), plays guitar, piano and makes up songs.
Swimming lessons are a super idea for so many reasons. My daughter started when she was about 2. Keeping them active is important; she plays tennis quite regularly, as we live opposite a tennis club.
You may recall throughout lockdown I’d make posts about different things I’d taught her or introduced her to. My wife is a Montessori teacher where they teach the concept of ‘the absorbent mind’. You’d be amazed at what young children can learn, given the right stimulus.
Enjoy the time with your grandson - these are magical moments.
I do recall what you did with your daughter during Covid lockdowns - you were so lucky have that time with her.. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to be with my grandson and it's only been since my husband and I were fully vaccinated that I've been spending time with him.
I lost a year, so I'm making up for that this summer.
nor was mine.
shareSomeone call child protective services. The horror shown in Indiana Jones is too intense for even a 10 year old.
shareYOU WORK HARD AT YOUR OWN ALIENATION.🤔
shareRubbish! I was only about 8 when I saw my first Indy film and I only have wholesome memories of it to this day.
My babysitter letting me watch The Omen when I was 6 is another story entirely. I still can’t hear the music from it without being triggered.
Nothing worse than a stranger judging another's parenting abilities, especially when we're talking about movies that aren't even R-rated. I saw Raiders in the theater when I was 9. You can cover your eyes at the bad parts, you know. BTW, with the internet kids can see way worse stuff by typing a couple characters into a browser.
