Is it sexist to open a door for a woman ?

Is this something only a pig would do? In the past this was deemed acceptable.

reply

What kind of man wouldn’t hold a door open for a lady?

reply

Depends on the lady.

reply

Would you hold a door open for a hooker? I would. Courtesy is courtesy.

reply

I would. But not for someone like Lena Dunham.

reply

I don't know enough about her to say what I would do. But I wouldn't hold a door open for Rosie O'Donnell. Yes for a hooker, no for her. I might be tempted to feign holding the door open but let it go at the last moment, allowing it to slam into her face, but I wouldn't do that, as it would improve her looks.

reply

You don't find this attractive?

reply

I'd hold it open for Lena or Rosie. If they said anything off color to me then I would simply say that they are welcome and that it was my privilege. I would put a subtle emphasis on the word "privilege" to see if I could milk a little more outrage from them.

reply

Nope. But what I find particularly repulsive about her is her personality. She seems as if, way back when, she couldn't get a date to the high school prom, and she's been bitter about it ever since. Let it go already!

reply

I hold the door open for every one. It's just being polite.

reply

But not groups. That's sensible. You don't want to get sued if they get stuck going through at the same time.

reply

In Canada, everyone opens doors for each other. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ZIhQq_Scq1I

They got their passports revoked.
Some people, like myself, don't close the door behind but slowly let go of the door so the hydraulics of the door make it slowly close. I can't stand the thought of me closing the door in someone's face.

reply

No, but is it misogynistic to think I’ve only done it because it’s a woman?

reply

"Gentlemanly Andy."

reply

Honestly I'm bored with people reading something into an act which is just common decency.

reply

Wait a minute..!
Have I been sexually harassing all of the dudes I've held a door open for?!?

Jeez, I think I need a shower and a lie down:/
I can't keep up with this silliness anymore

Or maybe some 'journalists' and 'feminine psychologists' (whatever the hell that means) have simply run out of things to write about

In the interest of equality I will be sure to slam the door in everyone's face from now on...can't be too careful lol😁

reply

I really hate when things like this come up. Not blaming you, but just that it has come up in society and that people do think it's sexist. In polite society we should all be willing to hold a door open for anyone behind us without fear of offending someone.

Exactly.

What if a gay man holds the door open for a lesbian?

reply

Quel dommage!

reply

Yeah, right.
