Name a fake movie that was in a real movie that needs to be made.

The Three - Adaptation (2002)
Don't - Grindhouse (2007)

Not in a movie like you asked for but I'll mention made-up movies on Seinfeld. Many might say Death Blow, but I like movies about historical figures so I'll go with Ponce De Leon

reply

That counts. I want to see Prognosis Negative.

reply

Rochelle Rochelle

reply

Who do you think will get the final DEATH BLOW?! I hope it's the Hawaiian guy.

I've never heard of UHF, but that's hilarious.

reply

That was very funny πŸ‘

reply

Yes!!! I wonder what would be the plot of Conan the Librarian.

reply

To crush the library cards. To see the books delivered before you, and to hear the lamentation of the late fee recipients.

reply

That's actually very well made.

I have a funny story about wanting to rent Amazon Women on the Moon from Blockbuster in the mid 90s. I couldn't find it in the comedy section so I went to the counter and asked for it. Was told in no uncertain terms that they did not rent pornography. I was really taken aback and said that it wasn't porn, it was a cheesy late 80s comedy, but the woman was adamant that they didn't rent porn. So, I was frustrated and my friend and I decided to leave and go to videostation instead, and on the way out this man hands me a card to an adult porn shop in the area. So creepy.

There was a Baker's Dozen topic on this: "Looking for a fictional movie within a movie." I don't know if anyone can find a link to it.

In Matinee (1993) they had a schlock horror film called "Mant" - Half-Man, Half Ant. For "Mant," director Joe Dante cast actors who had actually appeared in 1950s-era science fiction movies. These included Kevin McCarthy, Robert Cornthwaite, and William Schallert.

reply

That was a great movie. It was a spot-on depiction of the monster-movie mania of the 1950s and 1960s.

I remember John Goodman's character searching for inspiration while viewing the taxidermied alligator (I think it was at the gas station). He came up with Galligator, half-woman/half-alligator.

reply

I used Matinee (1993) as the mystery title for Stonekeeper Movie Guessing game #1154 on here.

Cathy Moriarty's character is named Ruth Corday. This is a tribute to actress Mara Corday who starred in the real giant bug movies Tarantula (1955), The Black Scorpion (1957), and The Giant Claw (1957).

The character of Lawrence Woolsey is based directly upon the real Hollywood showman William Castle. The character is introduced in a recreation of Castle's famous trademark of a silhouette of him in a director's chair with his head turned in profile with his cigar. His name is a reference to Lawrence Woolner, one of the Woolner Brothers whose company, Woolner Brothers Pictures, distributed sci-fi classics like Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958).

reply

Thanks for the info. I had read that John Goodman's character was based on some actual director but couldn't remember who.

One of my favorite movies.

That movie wouldn't see the light of day in this era.

reply

I don't know what it was called, but the movie they're watching in Troll (1986). It seems so much better than the actual movie!

"Yes, your canary is a pod person from the planet Mars."

reply

I wish I could help you with the name. I've only seen Troll 2.

reply

Probably "Canary Snatchers from the planet Mars".
