Something I have observed in american movies

Usually there is group of friends in which there are,e.g., three white people and one black person. Does this reflect the truth in the american society?

reply

Dude, that was the 90s, where you needed one black secondary in the group. In a 4-5 people group, you usually had 3-4 white people and the mandatory black one, which used to be a secondary character.

Right now the usual template in Hollywood is (1) good characters: a white female, a black male, a black female, a couple of hispanic males/females and an (generally ugly) asian female (2) evil characters: multiple white males.

The interesting question for me is: how often do you see this "mix" or "combination " (may be there are not the right words in this case) in real life?

reply

Here a real recruit for your angry white man cult here!
look at him : dumb as fuck , and obsessed with race ratios.

You'll be able to indoctrinate him in no time!
just go slow and keep it simple or he wont be able to follow , your template outline was a bit too much brainwashing in one go , as evidenced by his reply.
slowly slowly catchee monkee.

I think it depends on the circumstances. I used to work at a place in the IT industry where the workers were about 60% white, 25% Chinese immigrants, 10% immigrants from India, and 5% black. We often socialized together and the mix reflected that. On the other hand, I live in a rural area now where the population is nearly all white, so the people I hang out with are nearly all white.

One thing to keep in mind is that the USA is quite varied from place to place. You'll find a higher proportion of Native Americans in the Dakotas than in New York City, for example.

reply

Thank your for your answer. Yes, I can imagine that it also depends on where do you live.

reply

I'm a bit unsure what your purpose is in asking about this

It's quite normal for people here in The States to get along and be on very warm terms regardless of background, race, gender or anything else, don't believe what you see on the news or social media, we are NOT all racists, homophobes or whatever other mentally damaged labels people seem to freely apply

I'm the whitest looking dude you're likely to meet and half my friends are quite different than me

reply

Hello ShogunofYonkers,

There is not purpose at all other than to know a little bit more about how do people perceive or think about some subjects.

With other words ist is just curiosity, I observed over the years (in the movies) the situation described in my first post and due to the fact that I have not been in the States I just wanted to ask.

I am sure that not all are racists (that would be not normal) but I think that the "racial subject" is very important in the USA.

And I do not really believe all what I see on the news or social media.... I do not want to get mad...;-)

reply

The happiest people I know (of whatever background) tend to not dwell on these topics, they just get along๐Ÿ˜‰

Liar. You're half shogun who identifies as Yonkeree.

reply

The original story was probably 4 white people. Its usually forced.

And today that rule is enforce strictly.

reply

I see it all the time. Where do you live to ask such a question?

reply

In West Europe.

reply

Sometimes it is 3 black people and a puppy.
2 white people and a latin person.
three latinos and a Chinese grandmother.
Two cats and a dog.
A crocodile and an alligator.
WHere wuz eye?

reply

Does this reflect the truth in the american society?

Yes it does indeed , it all goes back to some law from slavery time that they havent repealed.
A bunch of white people are only allowed to have one black friend
Also blacks are not allowed out with white people unless the white people outnumber them 3 to 1 minimum.
We keep track of this with a license system , and you have to have your license in your wallet when in mixed company.

If all that sounds like a load of horseshit perhaps you should have a look at the sort of questions you are asking.

reply

I do not understand your reaction and what is wrong with my question.

three white people and one black person. Does this reflect the truth in the american society?

Your question is one of the most moronic banal stupid questions I have ever seen whislt still having a passive aggressive racist overtone.

So i could only respond with something similar.

Perhaps you could re phrase your question.
What is it you actually want to know?

reply

If that is "one of the most moronic banal stupid question " you have ever seen then you are a lucky man!
"a passive aggressive racist overtone "?????????? I do not know why. It is not.
Some other users have answered without problems giving just their opinion.

reply

Your question does not make sense , I appreciate that maybe English isnt your first language,
so could you rephrase it? i mean ask the same thing again with different words?>

What are you asking?
a) is the proportion of whites to blacks in america 3 to 1?
b) Do white people only have one black person in their social circle?
c) Do blacks and whites really mix in america?
d) other. please elaborate

reply

Not really. Neighborhoods across America have different racial and ethnic compositions from diversified to homogeneous so friendships will depend on that and the willingness of people to socialize with different groups.

It was common for movies and TV shows to have an all white cast which started to change in the 1960s during the Civil rights era. The "token" black character was introduced. Now, movies and TV shows aim for even more diversity with more groups represented since America's demographic is changing.
