Movie Themes

Some films have truly amazing themes. Composers like Goldsmith, Morricone, Ortolani and Barry could breathe life into any film they were assigned to.

Post links to any great film scores you enjoy.

Here’s one from Capricorn One that is probably better than the film itself:

i listen to the Koyaanisqatsi score here and there.

I haven’t seen that film but it looks really interesting.

Ortalani's opening theme for Cannibal Holocaust is a beautiful piece

The entire Conan (82) score is amazing as well

*sorry, I'm on a phone and have no clue how to post links but both are on youtube*

I don’t know who scored Conan but it’s absolutely great. I especially like it during the scenes when Subotai is defending with his bow. It’s perfect. Hell, I think the film is so underrated.

I was a little kid but I still recall it being dumped on by the media and critics as too violent

It was about a barbarian hell bent on revenge, what the hell did the talking heads expect?!?

reply

I always liked the orgy theme! Haha

I agree about Capricorn One. Goldsmith was one of the very best. But the movie is also very good.

I have never seen Exodus but I love this theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wEPZ1ef2g_A

I’ve not seen it before either but, your right, it’s a great theme.

So do I.

PS And it's from a great film, the Coen Brothers' masterpiece!

reply

One of the few films I've given a 10/10.

I give it a 9/10! There's only one film I've ever given a 10/10.

Ishtar? Gigli? The Room? From Justin to Kelly?

reply

LOL!

No, Bubba. I'm referring to 2001: A Space Odyssey, the greatest film of all time, the film
which changed how films are made.

Expect more posts from me by Ennio Morricone, but I'll start with this one, bello!

One of my favorites for sure.

I am fighting with myself for not going on and on about some Herrmann work (being a Hitchcock freak) so I'm going to praise Jerome Moross and his score for the ages with THE BIG COUNTRY (1958). A wonderfully cast and brilliantly made film with a mediocre story.

I love it too, it's the only rhyme that bites!
