Anybody else kind of feel tired of wearing masks?

Hi.

I understand of course that the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic is still on today, but I was wondering, although it is necessary and a government regulation still and all that, is anyone else kinda tired of wearing masks all the time these days? In shops, at work, on buses and taxis and even outside sometimes?

I am, in a way.

I miss the days before masks. I hate those damned things.

They get hot and moist, the upper edge keeps irritating my lower eyelids, they slip and slide around, I can't eat with them on, no way in hell would I wear one of those when exercising, normal exertion and breathing is bad enough; and I know for a fact they don't actually stop the virus! In fact the only reason I wear one of those goddamned things is so I can go grocery shopping or just shopping in general, since they won't let you into the stores where I live without one.

Someday, when they give up this stupid mask rule, I fully intend to take every mask in our house out to the nearest bonfire and join in by throwing them in there. Nothing would be more satisfying than watching those goddamned face diapers go up in smoke.

reply

Which fact do you know that they don't stop the virus?

reply

Science.

reply

Uh huh. Which study? When did it come out?

reply

No study needed. Microns are units of measurement. A virus is smaller than any mask you can put on your face that isn't 100% outside airtight.

This is hard science, not "i FuCkInG lOVe SCIENCE!"

reply

No one is saying that they stop the virus completely, yet masks help slow the spread as they help prevent the droplets from travelling. By wearing a mask you are preventing the distance the droplets can travel, hence why we are to also stay 6 feet apart from one another. Also why we are still to be washing our hands. When a person sneezes their respiratory droplets can travel almost 30 feet. Studies have shown that masks greatly reduce that distance, and there are multiple studies.

Some of them get trapped, yes, but as I said...if its not an airtight seal, 50% or more droplets are escaping out the sides, top, and bottom of the mask. Even more so if you sneeze...and said droplets are able to travel much farther than 6 feet. Go outside in the cold and watch how far you breath lasts before it dissipates. It will travel much further than 6 feet without wind.

You should be washing your hands regardless lmao.

Again, this isn't a study, its hard, established, actual science. I'm not anti-mask, but I'm also not going to believe the absurd bullshit presented to my face by idiots on TV that probably don;t even have a GED, let alone a background in any sort of science.

reply

No one said it was 100 % effective, (at least not that I've heard) but with wearing masks, keeping distance, and washing hands it greatly helps reduce the spread.

reply

Nope. I can’t wait for wearing two masks to be mandated!

reply

I first wore a gaiter because I had one already and that was annoying but when I switched to a cloth mask I usually forget I have it on. Except sometimes when my glasses fog up.

reply

Considering the cold, the mask is welcome. It's been almost 1 year,of course this is got old long ago.

reply

No. I have a double mask set up. N95 + cloth, but I am running low on N95. Second best is paper mask and 3 ply cloth. The new variants are scary. I am not eligible to get the vaccine yet but that only prevents covid disease, not covid. I don’t want to ever catch it.

reply

The new variants are scary.

Turn off the TV.

reply

Yes I am. I am tired that so many stores are closed, no to be able to drink a coffee in the city or to go to the cinema with friends or to a restaurant or to visit another country.

reply

NO...THE OPPOSITE ACTUALLY...I ALREADY HAD ISSUES WITH THE GROSSNESS OF PEOPLE...I KIND OF ENJOY WEARING/EVERYBODY ELSE WEARING A MASK....MY INNER HOWIE MANDEL IS QUITE CONTENT WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION.🤔

reply

I find the hypocrisy to be really weird down here. For example, I have to wear a mask in a crowded shopping centre or on public transport. BUT then I can sit in a cafe or restaurant etc and not have to wear a mask at all nor do I have to wear a mask in my work place as long as I can social distance.

I get it to some extent but it just seems silly too. I could just as easily get CoVid by sitting in the cafe as I can on the train and we have extremely low numbers down here at the moment too.
