I hate when people say “we need to talk” or “I have something to tell you”

And it’s almost never that significant but you have crippling anxiety until they do

reply

Or when they say they know something but the can't tell you.

Don't tell me you know something then!

reply

Yeah lol

reply

Or, saying those things but then saying “I can’t talk about it on the phone.” Damn, don’t bring it up over the phone then.

reply

Lol yeah

reply

Next time someone say "We need to talk" respond by saying "Yes we do."

reply

Yeah lol

reply

Chris Rock had a great line about this

Wife: 'Honey, we need to talk...
We need to talk about some shit you need to do'

reply

Lol yeah

reply

Real talk...sometimes an innocent husband is alone in the garage, the CD player is blaring Mellencamp, fishing equipment is getting oiled and prepared, the squirrels and chipmunks are devouring the peanuts you just tossed for them on the driveway and ALL is right with the world...Total Bliss.

Then Wifey charges in!
Now your ass is headed to The Post Office, Home Depot, some clothing store you never heard of and the car is out of gas and she hates pumping gas so get to it boy and soon you'll be at the Farmer's Market carrying baskets of stuff you know you'll never eat but why pick a fight at this point?!?

Ain't love grand?

reply

Yeah sounds blissful! Lol

reply

Haha!

It's not terrible, it's often very nice
Just know that if your Lady sees a spider in the washroom you need to be on that bastard like Seal Team 6 and if she buys something deadly heavy at Walmart you gotta carry that backbreaker like a boss😂

reply

Lol yeah goes w the package

reply

It's good to feed squirrels and chipmunks!

reply

The driveway critters have become my buddies during these lockdowns...I've started to name them and I'm sure that sounds weird but I swear it's totally normal😃

reply

More than normal, HONORABLE!

reply

It's never a good sign.

😎

reply

It's better than, "You have the right to remain silent".

reply

What if I need a place to sleep? It’s cold out there.

reply

Point, lol.

reply

When someone uses these phrases, they are doing a sort of control maneuver. Instead of simply telling you what they have to tell you, they put a spin on your brain and let you stew in internal monologue before doing their dramatic reveal. A linguistic tactic for drama queens and control freaks. Always bothers me.

reply

It really is 'soap opera' level dialogue yet I'd bet every husband hears this a dozen times a week LOL

Just imagine you're J. R. Ewing and roll with it👍

reply

How about?

I have something to tell you...no matter it can wait! 😀

reply

Or after a very minor disagreement wifey says...

'Never mind, it's fine...' frequently accompanied by the hand gesture 🤚

4 words and you just know that WWIII is about to kick off😳
