What are your thoughts on Michael Jackson?

Talented guy and I dig his songs. Although, an odd fellow. I've never seen such a drastic transformation as in him.

I’d like to add that he, and director John Landis, put the music-video format ON THE MAP with Thriller. Thriller, with narration by the inimitable Vincent Price, legitimized the music video as an artform.

And, FUCK!: the guy could dance.

reply

Music wise, I think "Off The Wall" was better than "Thriller".

reply

I think he was very naive and damaged. I also believe he fiddled kiddies.

reply

No, he didn't.

Super talented Artist.
Huge Fan as a kid.
Lost respect for him as an adult.
He went surgery nuts, turned his back on the blacks by dying his skin white, raped kids, was a freak.

reply

You try being "normal" after growing up with an abusive father, who refused to let you have a real childhood.
Even so, MJ didn't bleeched his skin (he had vitiligo) and he didn't rape any kids either. Geesh...

reply

Might as well ask what are your thoughts on R. Kelly.

reply

i like him especially when he does the "moonwalk"!

reply

He was a greatly OVERRATED performer and a giant wierdo.

reply

He is the role model of many younger artists, who don't agree with you at all that he's "overrated".
And really, what gives you the right to call somebody a "giant weirdo"?
MJ lived a rough life since he was a little kid.
So who are you to judge him and not let him rest in peace almost twelve years after he passed away?

reply

He was an incredibly talented musician and entertainer and one of the biggest trendsetters ever. However, listening to his music now is uncomfortable because of the child molestation allegations and I can't help but believe there's some truth to them.

If you do some digging into the cases, it's clear all his accusers had unsettled agendas and bitter money problems. Why work when you can sue Michael Jackson?

Apparently, MJ is still widely downloaded and streamed online (and maybe one of top downloaded artists currently), so it looks like the allegations didn't hit him badly at all.

reply

Thank you!

reply

In these two statements, you've highlighted exactly why no one would want to sue MJ. Despite all the accusations, no one has stopped paying to hear him sing. The fact that people are still defending him after death and listening to his music makes it clear that anyone who comes forward will face a lot of public wrath for speaking out.

Which means that any accuser is going to look guilty no matter what, because MJ is worth a lot of money - and if you weren't going to get compensated, why else would you do it? If I knew that the entire world was going to attack me for the rest of my life for telling the truth, you'd better believe I'd want something other than just knowing it's the right thing to do in return.

Also, I don't think that the accusers being greedy and MJ being guilty are mutually exclusive possibilities. The accusers may very well be greedy. But that doesn't make their accusations untrue.

Hee-hee may have been a pervert or not, but Thriller was cool for its time.
