I just heard a weather forecast on the radio. I don't know where the rummy got her forecast, but she said we have a "slight" chance of snow. 🌨️
Um, we're under a blizzard warning today and tonight. 4-7 inches of snow are expected, windy with gusts up to 55 mph. I suppose she'd call that a slight breeze. The one thing she got right is we're going below zero tonight.
Toronto has nothing. Not a single snowflake on the ground. We've only had 3 mild snowfalls since November started and the snow that did fall melted soon after.
We had a really big dump of snow at the beginning of November, about 20 cm, and a few other days of snow since, which has mostly stuck around. I think southern parts of Alberta had a snowfall warning Sunday/Monday, with some places getting up to 70 cm.
I heard about Calgary getting 40cm but didn't hear about 70. I wish we got at least some of that. It really doesn't feel like winter without it. It's not even that cold. A sweater and a light jacket has been good enough the last few weeks.
70 cm isn't too bad if it's powder, but if it's heavy wet snow.....no thank you!! Living so far north and in the west, we usually don't get the wet snow like the east coast gets.
We've had some beautiful late fall/early winter weather here in Reno. Bright sunny skies and temps in the 40s, all I need is a denim jacket walking outside. The skiers are probably not happy, though.
Good luck. We didn't get rain here, although the Cities did. I learned a new weather term today: flash freeze, which is what happens when rain is followed by quickly falling temps. It sure makes driving a nightmare because, of course, all that water turns to ice. The temps are going below zero tonight, meaning the brine they use to treat the road surfaces does not work very well. I'm glad I don't live in the Cities now.
Thankfully, we got only about 5 inches of snow, but those winds are nasty. Top wind gust: a window-rattling, house-shaking 66 mph. 🌬️💨
freezing rain always worries me because of the power. i would take 10 feet of snow over freezing rain. we had that bad storm back in 2014 when we lost the power for days. it's no fun.
