i wish movie news sites would not turn silly tweets into news stories.
shareIf they didn't what would conservatives have to be outraged over?
shareConservatives??? "Conservatives" are those who want to "conserve" the current status quo.
The current status quo in western society is woke. Wokes are the conservatives right now.
woke me up before you go go koo koo 😁
shareAs usual, wokes answer with insults and personal attacks.
shareIt’s a joke Geraldine
Relaaaaaax
Telling "before you go koo koo" to somebody you don't know is not a joke, it's an obvious personal attack.
This is something very common in wokes, by the way. They use to be aggressive and often answer with insults and personal attacks, but they fail to be aware of it. People who constantly searching for hate in others are too afraid to search inside themselves.
TELLING "Telling "before you go koo koo" to somebody you don't know is not a joke, it's an obvious personal attack." TO SOMEBODY YOU DON'T KNOW IS NOT A JOKE, IT'S AN OBVIOUS DICK MOVE.
shareAs soon as i saw the thread title i did a CTRL-F to see where the word 'woke' first pops up.
Congratulations kuku! you're winner!
...you may also be in line for a secondry prize for using the word woke the most amount of times in the least amount of posts
Because Bruce Willis' sexuality was always an important part of the plot...
shareYes, his wife was hardly mentioned at all, was she? It was no more important to the plot than the actors skin colour or gender, doesn’t mean a remake switching those things up is necessarily a bad idea.
Not that I think Die Hard needs to be remade at all. It’s wonderful just as it is. But studio execs do love their tampering with the classics and attempting to make lightning strike twice.
I would be hesitant to watch any remake of Die Hard, but not because the lead character is gay.
Could've been any loved one, so no, his sexuality wasn't relevant to the plot.
Switching up things for political reasons is always a bad idea.
Fair enough but I personally don’t feel it’s political to acknowledge that people other than straight, white folk exist in the world and have them represented in movies and popular culture.
Like I said though, remaking Die Hard is a bad idea, regardless of who is saying yippee-ki-ya motherfucker!
We're talking about remakes switching things up, not simply movies featuring gay couples.
I've never been a fan of Die Hard, but they've made enough remakes to last the rest of the century.
On that we definitely agree!!
shareREMAKES ARE AS OLD AS ORIGINALS...THE MOTION PICTURE BUSINESS HAS ALWAYS EATEN ITS OWN TAIL...SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING.
share"REMAKES ARE AS OLD AS ORIGINALS"
🙄
That’s true, at last count Little Women has been remade 657 times and A Star is Born 658*. Doesn’t necessarily make it a good thing though. There are a few examples of how remakes can be a wonderful way to bring an old story to a new audience, and even fewer that actually improve on the original (Cronenberg’s Fly, I’m looking at you, kid) but on the whole they often fall flat and leave us all wondering why they bother trying to fix something that ain’t broke.
* I am sometimes prone to exaggeration
Films which will flop, coming soon. Move over Ghostbusters 2016 and Charlies Angels 2019...we have a new contender!
shareI am very interested in this new take on Ghostbusters...https://youtu.be/ahZFCF--uRY
shareWhat I don't get is why some dumb popcorn thriller like Die Hard is held up as a sacred cow that mustn't be tampered with.
If it flops -- who cares ? Theron certainly is capable of leading an action flick so why not? Not like H-wood is churning out such great quality this stands out as a bad idea. That current movies are creatively bankrupt isn't political, it's that they've monetized the art form to where the deep pockets want to use formulas to insure viewership.
Hell, all sub-groups of humanity deserve representation, to be heroes or super-heroes, and the art can rise or fall on it's own merit.
Whether someone should kill you now? That one I will leave alone.
I LIKE THIS POST.🙂
shareDie Hard has already been remade 100s of times, just not under the name Die Hard. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing a Lesbian action flick, but I don't need it to be called Die Hard. Just like I really enjoyed Ocean's 8, but I thought attaching it to the Ocean's franchise cheapened it a little bit. We don't need women's movies that jump on the coattails of popular men lead franchises. I hope that makes sense.
