My respect for director Chris Columbus has completely gone up.

Obviously he directed Home Alone 1 & 2. He recently criticized the upcoming Disney reboot. He's speaking bibles full of truth with this:

“Nobody got in touch with me about it, and it’s a waste of time as far as I’m concerned. What’s the point? I’m a firm believer that you don’t remake films that have had the longevity of Home Alone. You’re not going to create lightning in a bottle again. It’s just not going to happen. So why do it? It’s like doing a paint-by-numbers version of a Disney animated film — a live-action version of that. What’s the point? It’s been done. Do your own thing. Even if you fail miserably, at least you have come up with something original.”

Couldn't agree more!

The funny thing is that the Home Alone reboot is probably going to be bad or average at best and they're going to prove him right.

reply

Home Alone is going to be rebooted?

reply

Yes. For Disney+. It's already being filmed and was supposed to be released this year.

reply

It should be about a 20-something snowflake pajama boy living at home who wakes up to discover there is no one around to make his cup of cocoa.

Although I agree with the general statement, I hardly think Home Alone is an untouchable classic.

reply

Not in a Citizen Kane sense, but a holiday classic sense.

reply

I've never seen HA or CK actually. Something about both just always bored me.

reply

It's a classic as in Back to the Future sense.

reply

Yeah, but at the same time he refuses to take responsibility for the Trump cameo in HA2. He blames it on test audiences and Trump's "bullying", even though nothing he described comes even close to bullying.

reply

I heard Trump would only allow him to film in his hotel if he made a cameo. It's only a five second cameo and shows that he's willing to do nothing if he sees something suspicious.

reply

The guy allowed them to film in his hotel if he could have a five second cameo. If you don't like it, just say no, right?

Trump had a cameo in his movie, big deal . Nobody cared any shit about it back then, why act like it's a deadly sin now?

reply

True.

reply

Yep retroactive outrage is most hilarious.

We are bringing up a generation of retards

reply

And retreads.

reply

I already was a fan because if not for him, I'd be living in Italy right now. Sucks for the native Americans though.

reply

True.

reply

Papillon is actually good. Not as good as the original but still a good watch.
