What is something only a bitchy person says?
I'll start, they'll explain something and then say "that's how that works."
shareI'll start, they'll explain something and then say "that's how that works."
share"Do you want me to do everything for you?"
"Educate yourself."
"Are you just gonna stand there all day?"
"You know I'm right, you just don't want to admit it."
"Educate yourself."
Thats a big one , you often see it in keyboard warrior bouts
"Read about {x y z }!"
"Learn about {a b c}"
aka
I'm educated on this , you re dumb
And what I hate is that if they're telling me I'm wrong, they want me to do the research. Anyone can win an argument that way.
share"Is that what you're going to wear?"
shareBarry Humphries as Dame Edna Everage talking to a front row woman in the audience during a show:
DEE: And the dress you're wearing darling what would you call that ?
Woman: Muffled answer.
DEE: Affordable I think would be the word.
Barry is quite good with the put downs especially veiled ones. My fave is,
"If every person in the audience wrote their life story it would all be interesting. The grammar and spelling would be of questionable quality but interesting nonetheless."
Barry Humphries is a fascinating character. Patrick White called him a genius. Barry reminds me of Clive James in a way in that they are/were both genuine intellectuals and cultured men, very well read and so on. But they both have/had a common vulgar streak in them at the same time.
I remember Barry as Dame Dame Edna being interviewed on American TV with Joan Collins and George Hamilton. First he cracked up Joan Collins by referring to the prostate gland as the Cinderella organ and she got the joke ( it turns into a pumpkin at midnight ). And then a minute later cracking up George Hamilton by saying how "her" husband needed a transplant but the doctors were worried that he would reject the organ. Then adding caustically that "...he should be used to that by now."
They open with, โI donโt mean to be bitchy, but.....โ
share"Let me educate you"
"That's not how you do it"
"You'll never achieve anything doing it that way"
"Here, I'll show you/let me do it"
I do say "education is your friend" from time to time.
shareI don't see that as condescending though like "Let me educate you" which implies the person thinks you are an idiot.
share'Let me educate you' is an aggressive and condescending phrase and as you state, it's a way for the user to denigrate another person
I wouldn't even say that to a child I had to explain something to
Most people just think of themselves, most people in the world.
shareI got another one.
"Let me drop everything I'm doing and deal with YOUR problem."
