So... what are your plans for Thanksgiving?

My husband and I usually host a big Thanksgiving dinner for the family but this year we are just staying home and having dinner for the two of us.

My step daughter just invited us to dinner on Tuesday and I accepted thinking it was just going to be her, her husband, and adult son. I told her we would be wearing masks and would eat on trays and not at the table with the rest of them, but now she tells me her son's girlfriend and her 2 year son will also be attending and I'm really sorry I said yes because had I know that I probably would have declined the invitation. I still may declie, but it gets complicated with my husband's family.

So what are your plans for Thanksgiving? Same as always or modified?

reply

None, I'm not American.

Beer, a hoagie, and watching some of the loonier JFK assassination conspiracy documentaries.

The past few years I went to one of the fine dining restaurants at one of the casinos (Reno). They always have great Thanksgiving dinners for around $35 - $40. This year, surely due to lowered capacity, it's $50, so I'm going to pass and just do nothing.

that sounds good.

I was actually wondering if someone would reference that! ha!

Apparently Australia has nothing to give thanks for.

I'm going to my sisters for Thanksgiving. She makes the best turkey, mashed potatoes, and dressing! I can't wait.

We are just going to be at home with the kids for the first time ever. I'm actually looking forward to it as I find the traveling very tiring and the big family celebration was getting so big that it was no longer enjoyable. The house was so crowded you couldn't hear yourself speak. Assuming things are back to normal next Thanksgiving, we'll probably go back to the usual 1-million-extended-family-members-and-counting format next year so I'm going to enjoy this year as much as possible.

Baking cinnabons...... And perhaps spending a few hours at a nearby park near my house with my family and dogs.

No gathering for me this year 🙅🏽 no way!

reply

Cinnabons sound delicious!

reply

Do you make them from scratch?

reply

Yes I'm using recipes from tutorial on YouTube.

I never made them from scratch before.

reply

I have and they are delicious! I've also made the twisted sticks that can be dipped in icing - yummy.

We've decided to go small this year
A lot of the family are older and thank God healthy, they all feel safer staying apart this season

We will host my Mom in Law and do a Zoom meeting...

reply

Me, some of my family and 2 good friends eating Turkey, Mashed potatoes, and sweet potatoes. And just hanging out with them for the day.

reply

Sounds fun! Be safe. Make sure you guys all quarentine in advance for at least a few days :)

reply

Well I am not going to be able to do that since I have to be at work at 6:45am the following day.

I know you know that retail sucks, my friend. I feel your pain. Courage.

reply

It's okay. I am used to my retail job. Been doing it 12 years.
