Sandwich
Goats cheese, honey, cracked pepper and a couple basil leaves, on some buttered bread. It won't disappoint.

Heh. I love that episode. Brilliant.
shareThat's a thought! Going vegetarian has been almost entirely effortless... except for the issue of sandwiches.
shareCome to think of it, the only vegetarian sandwich I eat is grilled cheese, but that's not exactly known as a healthy choice.
Edit: I just googled--Is cheese vegetarian--and it is not as simple as I thought
Cheese is vegetarian, but not vegan. They will pry the cheese from my cold dead hands, but not before the heart attack!
Cheese is not vegetarian!
It’s only vegetarian if it’s made using artificial rennet / non-animal coagulants.....otherwise it’s made with extracts from the stomach linings of calves.....which isn’t vegetarian.
Vegetarianism is like birdwatching, everyone plays by their own rules and still calls themselves a vegetarian or birdwatcher.
I'm not the kind of vegetarian that sweats the details, after fifty-plus years of eating meat what is the fucking point! No meat, no dead animals, and don't tell me how the broth for my tomato egg flower soup was made.
Very true....and I’m not judging or telling others what to eat, but what irks me is when people state facts that aren’t exactly true, which helps to misinform others. For example, if one refers to one’s self as a ‘such and such’ they should be aware of the ground ‘rules’, in this case that not all cheeses are vegetarian (as can be referenced by, for example in the U.K. anyway, The Vegetarian Society).
People can do what they like with the information, label themselves as whatever and do what they like (although this can further confuse others but I’m not getting into that).
Enjoy your life and your food.
What IS in your tomato egg flower soup broth by the way?! 😉😁
I think I could go vegetarian pretty easily if I wanted to.
shareThat's what I thought all along, turns out it was true.
At least half my meals were meatless just as a matter of choice, and I've been close friends with vegetarians for years. I knew the drill.
Yeah I'd say half or more of my meals are meatless. I do it without thinking about it. Something's just taste better without meat tacked on just for the sake of it.
shareI like a good Reuben w/ slaw instead of sauerkraut. Similarly a corned beef and pastrami w/ sharp cheddar and sriratcha mayo on french roll.
I like most sandwiches.
In the vein of your vegetarian offering: Avocado with sprouts, shredded carrots, thin sliced sweet onion, and mayo on multigrain bread.
I like my tuna salad with boiled egg diced in it and toasted cracked wheat bread. Pickle on the side instead of mixed in.
Yeah I love a Reuben type sandwich.
That other sandwich sounds good too but I can't eat avocado though, I became allergic to it a few years ago. It was weird, after years of loving it and eating it all the time, one day it just started making my throat itchy when I ate it, same with bananas.
Weird how allergies develop. I have a journey in the other direction. I hated avocados when I was a kid. Then we moved to a house that had an avocado tree in the yard. It was so prolific that we handed out grocery bags full of them to all of our neighbors (in an age when no one would steal them). Still, it wasn't until the invention of Ranch dressing that I came around to liking the grenade shaped food.
shareA few of my sandwich fillers.....
Peanut butter and Marmite
Peanut butter and banana
Peanut butter and whole grain mustard
Chutney and mayonnaise
Nut luncheon and raw mushroom - tastes surprisingly like chicken!
Never had peanut butter and Vegemite together, will have to try it.
shareMight be nice!
I have tried Vegemite but it’s very different to our Marmite.
I don't think I've had Marmite, I'll have to pick up a jar. I just assumed they would taste pretty similar.
shareThey may taste a bit similar but I think if you’re used to one, you will notice the difference with the other one.
For me, Vegemite was very different - it smelled bad, it had a bad aftertaste and it really wasn’t very nice lol even the colour is different!
Be interesting to see what you think of the Marmite ☺️
I'm sure I will like it. There isn't really many things I don't like. But yeah, I grew up on Vegemite, love that stuff.
