Did you have to book time off from work to vote for election?
I believe employers aren't supposed to dock pay if you go out and vote, correct?

shareI could have, my job allowed us to request several hours off with pay (which was certainly nice of them!) but since they also allowed us to Zoom Meet from home yesterday I didn't ask for it
I Did the work then voted and went straight home again...Nice deal👍
I believe they are required to book off with pay. If employer does not pay employee when they go out to vote then it's illegal.
Doesn't really apply to me though as I am an independent contractor.
Oh, I didn't know that...is that a Federal thing, I thought it was a New York City thing...
I love the term 'independent contractor,' now I suspect you are a Button Man lol!
there used to be a 3 hour rule in canada and some of the provinces. i am not sure if it is still in effect.
shareNo. I always work 8 and a half hours so there is always time to vote.
shareEvery year since I was eligible I've always voted by mail in advance. It just so happens that this is the year where it was politicized as "an issue".
shareI'm not working, but in past elections I've never had a problem with being able to vote outside work hours. I believe my state has guidelines that employees must have a certain block of hours during voting times where they can vote - say 3 hours?? If someone's shift length doesn't allow that, the employer must allow time off (I don't think pay comes into it, but they can't be penalized for taking time off) to vote.
shareIf you’re talking about the US election, then mine was a postal vote.
