Do you consider airport stops as places you've visited?

Technically you've been to that city or country. So does it count?

reply

No

reply

For me yes . Only time I’ve been to Dallas

reply

No. Not really.
Have I been to Vegas. At the airport, yes. But not really.
Same with Denver. Might have been cold out there, didn't experience it.

reply

I spent a few hours in Fort Worth Texas, Mexico City and Auckland New Zealand...I didn't leave the airport, but I was there a few hours.

I don't consider that I've been to any of them in any real way.

reply

I dont think that really airports count.

reply

No.

reply

No. In most of things in real life, "technically" doesn't matter.

reply

The point is that you don't experience the city itself if you don't leave the airport.

If someone asks you if you have been there and what is it like, you would not be able to give a description.

So in the technical sense you can say you have been on that soil, but have not experienced anything about it other than the airport.

Well , I'm counting Dubai airport.
Its a massive shopping mall, i shouldnt think the actual city is much different

reply

I remember this question was once asked on Yahoo Answers. Most responses said “No, doesn’t count”.

reply

No. Not even if you spend the night in some hotel and then take a taxi to the airport.

As a bare minimum, you should have roamed around the city for a couple of hours. Less than that doesn't count as "visited".

reply

True. I did a overnight stay in Lima die to a flight delay. All I saw was the Sheraton, the courthouse across the road and the ride to and from the airport.

reply

I've visited Oregon , if you count passing through it on a greyhound without even waking up :)
