You ever order at a restaurant and then smell something at another table and suddenly want that instead?

This happens to me all the time. I’m at bdubs and I just ordered wings and literally the second she walked away another server drops something on a table with grilled onions and you know once that smell hits your nose you have to have it, like popcorn or pizza.

Bdubs?

reply

Buffalo Wild Wings, regional nickname in Midwest where it originated. Short for BW3, the original name was Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck.

reply

I've never gotten it from smell, but sometimes I see someone close to me having something, and I'm like, "shit, I didn't know that was an option. That looks delish".

reply

Me, too. Usually seeing something, not necessarily the aroma.

reply

I’ve never heard of a weck before. Apparently it is a type of roast beef sandwich?

reply

"Bdubs" wins the prize for the stupidest nickname ever.

reply

Just because you don’t understand something doesn’t make it stupid. Bdubs is short for BW3, the original name was Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck.

reply

Whether I understood it or not is irrelevant. It's a stupid-sounding made-up word.

reply

Your mom’s a stupid sounding made up word

That's what we call it in Cincinnati also - B-Dubs

Are you talking food or about partners? 😁

Lol wtf

Never. I am very good at ordering exactly what I want.
I note that restaurants try to instigate this phenomenon though. Delivery of a plate sizzling, steaming, or on fire gets people's attention. Makes one want to come back and try THAT. A local expensive restaurant uses lots of dry ice to create bubbling mixed drinks and smoking shrimp cocktails. It never ceases to amaze me how many people of all ages are amazed/unfamiliar with dry ice.
