Apple and Chick Fil A arguably have the best customer service, but why do they have to be so creepy about it?

Like it’s ok to run a tight, seamless operation but why do you feel like you’re dealing with the secret service when you go in to get your phone looked at? Likewise on getting a $10 fast food meal, again I’m beyond impressed with how efficient they are but perhaps a bit more transparency in their operation would make for a warmer experience, rather than acting like creepy robots.

I'll take efficiency any day over warm and fuzzy. I think Apple is professional and helpful. What kind of transparency are you looking for from Chick Fil A that would make for a more pleasing experience?

I'm not looking to make new friends - they both provide a service that I'm more than satisfied with.

reply

I've never been to Chick Fil A so I don't know what their service is like
I'll get around to it, everyone raves about it...

I've been to Apple stores a couple of times and found the service pretty quick and friendly with no nonsense

reply

I wonder how many hours a day Movie Buff spends on thinking up these things?

reply

I'm a fan so it's time well spent😁

reply

I'm also enjoying it. I think he should put these things together into a book.

reply

Yeah like I said top notch service, just weird how elusive they are with their methods and practices.

reply

I’m not sure exactly what you mean - please explain.

I have been creeped out by Apple since after the comfy early days gaming on my old AppleII. I use an android phone. Don't need bells and whistles other than phone and camera so I don't need to pay a premium.

Chik-fil-A on the other hand are impressive with their service and attitude. Only been twice and they were very pleasant. I think they are heavy handed with the religion thing. Being closed on Sundays is weird. Like they think no Christians work on Sunday or maybe even ... GASP ... don't go to church. But whatever. I support their freedom to run their business as they like but I do find it weird/anachronistic.

Chik-fil-A sandwiches are overrated. The best chicken sandwiches out there are Popeyes and KFC. Chik's are pretty good but not remarkable, IMO. Everything else on their menu sucks (yes, between the two of us and two visits, I tried it all). You'd think that their chicken salad would be great but it is very bad. I find that Christians love everything Christian so the sandwich falls into that category and comfortably so since it is good. Just not the "best."

I applaud their decision to close on Sundays. More businesses need to do this. And close for holidays, too.

This idea of running in constant high gear 24/7/365 isn't healthy. There needs to be a rhythm to life, otherwise you are headed for a major burn-out.

No wonder our society is in such a foul mood these days.

reply

What if someone's rhythm is to skip Mon and Tue and they only eat out on Sundays? It's not like people are eating there 7 days a week.

reply

Pick another day of the week to eat out. It's not that difficult.

Years ago businesses were closed on Sundays, yet somehow everyone survived, and were probably happier, too. Having a day off works wonders.

reply

Outside of religion, there is no argument to support this. Businesses as big and successful as Chick Fil A do not have to close for an entire day to give their employees a break, they obviously have more than enough staffing to cover days off.

reply

I don't know about that. I went back to my parents' place for the summer once and everything was closed every Sunday. It drove me nuts. The only saving thing was that it was a beach town (everyone goes to the beach on Sundays, and Churches have Mass on Sunday evenings to accommodate this), but if you need to fill your car with gas to get to the beach then you are out of luck because all the gas stations are closed!

I do respect that ChikFilA does it, tho'; it is good for the staff to be able to have family time.

reply

People have days off. I don't understand the reasoning for why everyone's day off has to be the same day.

reply

I guess it's a cultural thing that goes way back. Saturdays and Sundays are weekends. Monday through Friday are weekdays... time for work, school, etc.

reply

Transparency? What exactly are you expecting that you're not getting?

When I go to a store I want to get what I ask for and get out. It's not a social club and I don't want people still making sales pitches at me when I already decided what I want. It took me less time and aggravation getting a laptop from Apple than it took me getting a TV from Best Buy. In both cases I went in, found a salesperson and told them what I wanted. I was out of the Apple store in about 10 minutes with no questions asked that weren't directly related to the sale. Best Buy wanted to know 30 things about how I was using what I was buying and a blood sample. Even as my stuff was being placed on a cart to get it out of the store the sales guy was trying to up sell to me. WTF?

NERD EGO AND CHRIST.
