I feel conflicted about tattoos

On one hand I'm all for personal freedom and creative expression. If someone wants to get tattoos, that's their right. That's their decision. But at the same time it baffles me how some people just nonchalantly put anything on them. I have more respect for people who get tattoos that have personal meaning or significance. But it seems like some people just get tattoos for the sake of getting one. I just don't get it. This is your one and only body. How could one take that lightly?

Don't even get me started on face tattoos. Just...nope.

reply

Anyone who says that they can't judge someone who gets tattoos because it means something to them shouldn't say anything to someone who wants a swastika tattoo because it means something to them.

We are all free to judge.

I'm still kind of waiting for the bubble to burst on the popularity of tattoos. I've always felt like it was just a fade and that's one of the reason why I never got one.

reply

I'm not. I hate them.

I know a few hardcore lifers, but most folks I knew back in the 90s regret all the tatts they have now. They're totally different people now, because of course they are. Also, 90s tatts in particular have aged terribly. They're so out of style.

reply

My 90s tattoo is something that means something to me. I got it on my 18th birthday. I also was thinking ahead and got in an area that you don't see it unless I want you to.

reply

Narcissism. Not interested.

reply

I don't feel conflicted at all. One or two on a man is okay but to be covered or have one on every limb is tacky.

reply

yeah i dont want anything on my skin permanently
theres some cool artwork out there, just not that cool

reply

Trust me. Your skin isn't permanent.

reply

None for me but I've seen some really cool ones

Old-time sailor tats and jailhouse ink are interesting, in lots of cases they tell stories...someone must have written a book about this at some point
