Are you a reader ?

Do you read real books? Everyday? How many books per week or month? Favourite genre and/ or author? Me? On average, 2 or 3 books per month, hard sci-fi and my favourite is Alastair Reynolds. Thank you for your time!

reply

Hell yeah! Reading two right now. I like Clive Barker, Steig Larsson, some Ann Rice, Stephen King, David Wong, Peter Straub, etc., etc., etc.

reply

A horror fan! Me too

Did you ever read Jack Ketchum? He wrote some very heavy novels

reply

No, but I want to. I like him!

reply

I usually have 3 books on the go at a time for depending on where I am in the house. I like Mystery, Horror, Drama, and Humour. I like Christian Galacar right now

reply

I used to be more of a reader. I keep meaning to get to some books I've got, but haven't yet. Keep getting distracted.

reply

Mostly scifi but the occasional biography, history, or horror. I am a huge Bruce Sterling fan.
Currently reading William Gibson's "Agency." Just finished Neal Stephenson's "Fall" which was on the meh side (his stuff is usually A+ though).
My read time is every day but short so it takes me months to finish a book. I could improve that quite a bit if I didn't come here.

Reynolds has been on my radar for a little while now. Thanks for the reminder. Saw his name show up again recently on the Love, Death, Robots show. His Beyond the Aquila Rift is on it.

reply

Yes , it was the best segment in my opinion. Don't miss out on reading Reynolds!

reply

Yeah, but not a huge one. I read a fair amount of non-fiction, though not too many novels. Mostly just because I'm kind of out of the loop on what's considered good and what I should check out. I've been trying to read more novels over the last year or two though. My favorite author right now is probably George R. R. Martin. I also quite like Stephen King.

Is his Wild Card series any good? I hear it is being optioned for a show. Thought about reading it but felt a bit chapped by GoT.

reply

I actually haven't read Wild Cards yet.

reply

non-fiction for me.

reply

I read far less these days. My stereo magazines are about it. I might read one or two books a YEAR (typically non-fiction). The last two were Bad Blood (about the Theranos scandal) and The Plantagenets by Dan Jones.

First of all, bless your heart for bringing up reading. It's good to know that's still a thing.
I don't know how much I read on average. Right now I'm reading a book about resurrecting the soul.
School didn't teach me much. The little knowledge I have comes from books and life experience.
