I think of Dolly Parton as more of a '70s lady than '80s. She was born in 1946 so by 1980 she was 34, and almost 40 by the time the '80s really felt like the '80s rather than an extension of the '70s.
I think she looked her best in the late '60s / early '70s when she was in her 20s and naturally busty. At some point in the '80s she lost a bunch of weight and with it, she lost her bustiness that she was famous for, so she got implants. I hate implants.

Dolly was a popular country-western singer early in her career, but her first feature film, 9 to 5, in 1980 catapulted her to fame outside the country music world. She went on to make "The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas" and "Steel Magnolias" during the 1980s, so I'd say she wasn't passé in the 1980s, regardless of her age at the time.

Traci Lords is perhaps the most famous porn star of all time, though she crossed over to mainstream TV and movies (she was in a couple of episodes of Married... with Children for example, and starred in the movie Not of This Earth [1988]). Samantha Fox was a mainstream pop singer and did "soft" porn, i.e., nude photos. All three of them were popular on posters in the '80s like you would find in Spencer's Gifts at the mall. I had this Samantha Fox poster on my wall in the late '80s when I was 13 or 14:

She doesn't look good there, but she looked good in the '80s.
Got to agree on Applegate. She was sort of the definitive big haired, fake blonde, 80s gal.
