At what age do people finish high school in the US?

It seems like American finish high school at 18?! Where I live, we finish it at 16-17. I know that in France they sometimes finish it as young as 15.

Typical age of an American high school graduate is 17-18, but there are (not very publicized) ways that a student can take an exam and graduate as soon as the second semester of their second year.

17-18 is typical. A year earlier if you skip a grade.

France is 11-15 for middle school: le collège
15-18 for high school: le lycée

Okay so... why did I have a 15 years old french student in my college (in Québec it's between high school and university)? He came from France. No one here (except a very few exceptions) gets to college before 16.

Most college bound students in the US graduate high school at age 17-18. You will find some 16 years olds and younger at US universities. Some unis, like USC, have special admissions recruitment for advanced younger students. These are kids who are gifted or were somehow able to skip grades and ace tests. Some are self motivated and others are from high pressure families who live in competitive school districts. They often take community college courses outside of regular school to race ahead. I knew some kids who completed college math and physics while in middle school. They finished high school early and went on to MIT, CalTech, and Cambridge in the UK.

17 or 18, depending on the situation. See, all our grades have two age groups, and sometimes kids get held back a year or two, so when they graduate varies a little bit.

I was 17 but there were a couple people who are 19, and many who were 18. I did know one guy who graduated at 16 though just because his birthday was a couple months away from graduation.

Most high school in Canada goes to grade 12, so most students are 17 or 18 when they graduate depending on DOB. Does Quebec only go to 11?
