I don't understand why rock music isn't more popular.
Rock is probably the most diverse genre of music. There's so many variations that someone could find of interest to them: hard rock, metal, punk, folk, psychedelic, alternative, goth, blues-rock, country-rock, soft, industrial, instrumental, progressive and more.
Almost all rock artists write everything they do. Most solo artists play an instrument. They don't use samples from other songs. They almost never have a guest artist appear on their albums to get "cred". How many times do we see something like, "Bitch, where's my money?" by Drake featuring: Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, Cardi B, Kanye West, Eminem and Ludacris?
The music itself uses the basic instrumental families: strings, percussion, woodwind, and brass. They rarely use instruments performed off of a "board". That loud "bass boom" we often hear in dance music sounds so manufactured.
I say, long live Rock 'n Roll!
