do you turn the radio off before getting out of the car?

I was watching this movie 'Clemency' and there is a scene where a character is parked and listening to something on the radio which is upsetting her. She turns the radio off and then turns the car off and gets out. I am thinking no one would would turn the radio off.

Never.

No.

reply

Yes, every time.

reply

Yes. Almost always.

What would be the point?

The idea is that when you turn the key to start the engine, the power from the battery will go right to the spark plugs, and not to the radio, headlights, AC, or any other accessory.

It probably wouldn't make any difference in newer cars, but that's the logic behind it.

I did not know that

It wouldn’t be a problem in my case.

It also may depend on the make of car, but in my car, if I leave the radio on when I turn off the car, it is on when I start the car again later. When I start the car, the radio may be blaring loud. Depending on where I am and who is with me, I may not want the noise. I always turn the radio off before turning off the car.

The on board computer looks after all that for me.

I don’t trust on board computers. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ARJ8cAGm6JE
