Clever/parody movie posters

This Polish poster for Lolita is like an optical illusion. Two images in one and both fit the movie.

Is it a match being lit and a woman’s crotch?

reply

No it's a lollipop. Lolita, lollipop. Get it?

reply

I see it now! That’s how messed up my mind is, I saw fire crotch. Sometimes I feel like that dude from The Cell lives in my head. Lol

Hmm, looks like a tampon instruction sheet

Took me a little bit to see the second image. It’s a little creepy considering the subject of the movie.

I found out there's a reason why the Polish Lolita poster is so clever.

They have a whole school of artists trained in poster design for historical reasons. During the communist era, the state wanted to control all publicity material for everything so these artists were commissioned to create their own posters for foreign movies for the internal market. Apparently the state didn't care how the posters looked, as long as they didn't look "western". This gave individual artists much freedom to create their own designs. And they were artists, not graphic designers.

OH MY GOD...THATS THE PEANUTS AFTER OPENING THE ARK OF THE COVENANT...TERRIFYING.

I forgot, there's a guy that makes "middle age posters". He uploads them to his facebook page. It's fun trying to identify the movie.

Would say the poster for Jaws was as brilliant as the movie itself.

reply

...So was Jaws 2 underneath the headline:

"Just when you thought it was safe...to go back into the water"

reply

That one wasn't bad.
