Walmart Drive-In Movies

Good news! Now you can see the worthless superhero junk they call films these days on the big screen again! https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/02/business/walmart-drive-in-theaters/index.html

reply

If they show grindhouse films I’m there. 😁

reply

Hell yeah!!!

'Warriors, Come out and play-yee-yay!'

reply

Bottles clinking 👍

reply

So Awesome!
Nobody did a menacing weaselly creep like David Kelly

That guy owned that roll👍

reply

I think the next thing I saw that guy in was Dreamscape when he had the nun-chucks in the flashy subway. My grandma took me to see it in the theater when I was a kid. I don’t think she liked it too much though. 😀

reply

Great movie...that must have been pretty scary as a little kid😳

reply

Yeah, the man-snake thing was definitely frightening to a small bean.

reply

I hear you!
Scary as Thulsa Doom!

reply

“There he is! That’s him!...That...the Warrior, he shot Cyrus!”

Yeah, that little worm....

The ones that scared me as a kid were the baseball furies...but as Ajax would say, a bunch of “wimps”, outmanned the Warriors and armed with bats and still got their asses handed to them...great scene...

reply

'I'll shove that bat up your ass and turn you into a popsicle!'

Maybe the best movie line ever!😆

Isn't Walmart itself a grindhouse film?

reply

That’s the people of Walmart.

I think the last 'superhero movie' I went to see was probably the first "Spiderman" movie way back when, starring Tobey Maguire. Proud to say I never saw another one since.

However, I have coworkers who have seen every single superhero movie - and can quote from each one. Their lives revolve around superheroes and Star Wars.

YEAH...YOU ARE DEFINITELY SUPERIOR....TO....EVERYONE.🙄

Now now. That’s not mod like behavior. You have to be unbiased in public and then ban people incognito. 😉

As far as superhero movies, let's see....I saw the original Superman (1978) which was good and Batman (1989) which I thought was pretty lame; I preferred the TV show. As for Star Wars, I think the original was great, the sequels/prequels okay. And proud to say I've ignored every superhero movie since. Guess we are the two Moviechat Superheroes since we are the only ones who see through the lameness of them all!

reply

Make it three...I don’t hate them, don’t necessarily think they’re lame, those movies just aren’t my bag...the genre undeniably makes a shytload of cash and its core audience is definitely devoted...I saw the aforementioned Spider-Man with Maguire, it was cool....and that Superman in 78, my first movie at the theater...don’t remember much, other than wanting to see what was all the fuss about this Brando guy...I was so young and I have not revisited the movie since...I thought Superman II was cool, but that might’ve been due to the fact it was on HBO in the early 80s like eight times a day and kids aren’t known to have refined tastes...Batman 89: IIRC, Basinger was pretty, Nicholson funny, and Keaton, well, he was great in Mr Mom and, to some degree, Beetlejuice...I did get through an hour of Black Panther, it seemed okay...ive heard Deadpool was okay, funny with snappy one-liners....I have vowed to watch Iron Man eventually, at least the first one....I like Robert Downey so I’ll give it chance....but yeah, I hear you, those movies aren’t my go-to....

reply

And I thought Joker was cool, but it wasn’t necessarily a superhero flick....some dark themes but quite an interesting take from Todd Phillips....

reply

I never saw 'Superman' in 1978 (or any sequels), but I did see 'Batman' in 1989. I thought it was OK - didn't understand what all the hype was about it.

I remember reading a blog on the internet which said all these adults in their 20s, 30s and 40s (my coworkers) who are so heavily into 'Superhero' crap (my coworkers) are experiencing 'delayed adolescence'; they don't want to grow up or be responsible adults, as they'd rather stay in their teenage years or younger.

I totally agree. These are people - some in supervisory positions - who can't make a decision to save their lives. They refuse to be 'the adult' and ignore what can be controversial, until someone else steps in and makes a decision for them (usually a worker in their 50s, 60s, or 70s). IIRC, Bill Maher made reference to this not too long ago, which really upset my coworkers.

reply

Yeah, Maher was rough and took some shots, and, if I recall, it was right around the time of Stan Lee’s death, which really upset some people....good, funny, tight rant, if a bit harsh...

reply

Hey, it's something to do.

reply

SO NEGATIVE...SOME PEOPLE ENJOY THOSE FILMS...JUST BECAUSE YOUR ANONYMOUS ON THE INTERNET DOESNT MEAN YOU CANT BE POLITE.🙂

reply

Agreed.

reply

I LOVE Superhero movies👍
Long live The Capes!!!

reply

I've seen every superhero movie there is to see except Aquaman for some reason. And I've loved every single goddamn one of them. Even the terrible ones. I even love the Corman Fantastic Four! 48 allergy medicine together

reply

The return of drive-in movies may be the only good thing to come out the pandemic.

reply

The secret agenda was rid the world of over population.

reply

As long as they aren't $40 a carload then I would go.

I like this plan!

reply

Is this real? I don’t see anything wrong with this. Walmart candies and popcorn way cheaper than theatre concession stands.

reply

That’s a plus no doubt!

reply

Cheaper, yes, but I don’t know, TPB...I know it’s only popcorn, it’s not that complicated, but the popcorn at this one theater I frequent is far superior that any other Ive tasted...and a free refill if you go large, I hit the refill when I’m leaving and take it home...I bring my own water, I’m not paying Woodstock ‘99 prices for friggin water...

reply

Lol @ woodstock ‘99 prices

Nothing better than old school theatre popcorn and butter, that’s for sure. These days I sneak in my flask and I always smoke a blunt in the parking lot. I don’t wanna grow up, Imma Toys R Us kid.

reply

Nice...

reply

Good popcorn is everything.

So true...
