Anyone raised to be counter cultural?

So either in a religious way (society is sinful, the Bible is the law, not Man's laws), or in a very liberal way (gender is a construct, schools are government indoctrination, wisdom comes from play and self discovery.)

BOTH OF MY PARENTS ARE STONE COLD HIPPIES...THEY WERE VERY CLOSE TO THE SECOND VERSION YOU DESCRIBED...FUN FACT..THEY BOTH MOVED IN WITH MY FAMILY A COUPLE YEARS AGO...IN SEPERATE ROOMS WITH THEIR TVS AND BONGS🙂

Have you seen the episode of the Simpsons where Homer's mother left Abe during the counter-culture movement of the 60s and became a protester/hippie?

reply

YUP...VERY MOM LIKE.

reply

No I was raised in a cursedly culturally conservative Catholic concentration camp.

My parents were too old to be 60s hippies, and too young to be 50s beatniks. But they were far closer to Beatniks than Hippies back in the day. By the time I was a pre-teen I think they were a confusing mish mash of being liberal on the one hand and being quite square on the other. So, no, I wasn't raised to be counter-cultural. But I was exposed to it via some of their friends and acquaintances. I developed a disdain for all things touchy-feely new-agey.
