80s cliche episodes for long running TV series’s

It seems like there were standard plot episodes that every tv series from the 80s would fall back on at some point. Let’s see how many we can think of. Ill start off with a few:

1. Evil Twin
2. Flashbacks of previous episodes
3. Giving birth when someone is trapped somewhere and normal people deliver

Are you referring to dramas? Soap Operas?

I mostly watched sitcoms, Tour of Duty, and the A-Team, but I do remember in soap operas a character's child would go off to a magic boarding school and come back six months later and was now an adult, but the parents hadn't aged.

reply

Dramas mainly. A team ; knight rider, Macgyver etc.

- Amnesia
- Former partner of a spouse returns to make trouble
- Some minor token chracter comes out as gay and after struggling with it everyone ends up accepting them
- The maverick cop who plays by their own rules
- The group of armed villains who can't shoot a single gunman while he takes them out one by one
- Season-finale cliffhanger ("who will survive??")

reply

Amnesia! Good one.

reply

Made-for-TV movies that addressed whatever social issue was in vogue that week.
