Is there really such a thing as a “garden gnome?”

I’ve struggled with this concept for a while, I can’t seem to wrap my head around it. I suppose it quickly becomes a philosophical debate but is there really such a thing? I feel like every garden is done for a reason and almost all garden gnomes have an underlying motivation that is usually selfish in nature. But the idea of some blind luck protecting all of someone’s ground minerals just doesn’t make sense.

"...almost all garden gnomes have an underlying motivation that is usually selfish in nature."

The same can be said of Underpants Gnomes.

reply

Step 1: Steal underpants
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit

Seems like a foolproof plan👍

reply

I see them in front yards a lot, so they do exist.

reply

I actually have few in my garden. I was just poking fun at another thread.

You mean the tacky ceramic decorations or the mythical beings tbat roam around the shrubbery during the unseen moments?

reply

The latter lol

reply

They exist, literally and philosophically. Whatever their underlying motivation, if they have one, or the quality of their make, or the purpose of their being, they do in fact exist. So...yes.

reply

Pictures or it never happened. 😁

reply

Only in ceramic form. The creatures they portray are mythical.

You seem pretty sure of yourself there. Do I detect a little hatred for gnomes? It’s 2020 try to be a little more open minded.

reply

I don't hate gnomes, but I'm not gonna knock down my hardware store's doors just to buy one for my garden either.
